Tool Kraft drill press

Yesterday I just finished up my Power King worm drive saw. Probably going to be some haters, but here it is. I bought this ToolKraft drill press off FBMP and decided to go a different direction. I've seen an endless stream of grey, different shades of blue, off shades of green for a drill press. This press was old and dirty. After hours of cleaning I threw caution to the wind and went outside the box. I wanted my press to be a focal point in my shop and I'd say I got that part. I replaced all the bolts, painted it, polished all the exposed metal and bought the blue badges off eBay. (The original was red) Its pretty sloppy, so I didn't feel the need to try and make it original. The drill bit wanders all over the place, so it's not a precision machine to be sure. I am really happy with the color choice. I want an old CRAFTSMAN.....and I WON'T do this to that when I find one.

Very nice, beautiful work. I kept thinking that I've seen something like it before.

1700540675767.pnglol!! My kids said it looks like a KitchenAid

Is that a Jacobs Multicraft chuck?
That I'm not sure, I'd have to check. It was trash when I got it and I had to press it apart and clean it to make it work. Seems like I saw Jacobs on the side of it, but I know for sure I have another Jacobs chuck and I could be thinking about that. It's on a tapper if that helps.

Since someone already brought it up, that switch box is jarring to the overall look of the machine's design. It could be relocated under the motor mount with a foot switch as the primary control method.

Probably gonna keep it there. It's an eye sore to some, but it came that way. It's also very similar to what my dad would have done back in the day. He was always kinda utility only...who cares what it looks like. I don't know....maybe I'll take your advice at some point, but it kinda feels like a nod to the ol' man in some respect.

Agreed, bubble gum pink...no way. I did see a drill press though that was powder coated kind of a mint green. It actually looked pretty cool (I thought anyway). I've always liked Yellow...old Yamahas, old Suzukis, yellow Mustangs or Camaros....I just grafted that like onto my press. I knew it wouldn't be to everyone's liking, but since it's mine, and I like yellow... it's all good 👍
