The pile would look a lot smaller with some further organization, stacking and stripping out of a lot of cardboard. A lot of room to be gained without losing access if that is an immediate concern. I could do that easily in half the space in a couple hours. More given half a day.

Well somebodies bragging.:D

Yeah, organization is definitely not my strong point. I'm not gifted with a lot of free time with a 10mo and more work than I can handle right now. As I tell my wife, I can either go into the shop to clean or go in to make some money for bills. I'll choose the money first always.

I met with the auctioneer the other night. He seemed stoked about getting the business and told me he'd send over a contract the next day to lock in the deal but I haven't heard back from him since. Going to give it a few days and start selling myself if he doesn't call me back. I think I have all the generators sold in bulk tonight and I'll extract the best tools and start listing them on here or ebay when I can.

I appreciate everyone's help on here. I figured selling would be easy, but when you add up costs the net ends up way lower than I figured unless I'm willing to spend a lot of time on doing it.

Unless you go through them and make some complete sets -- SAE and metric -- and sell them in sets, you'll probably get hosed on them if you want to sell them all at once in an auction. Maybe keep the brands together and try to complete a set in each brand. List on the local CL, Offer Up, here on GJ classifieds. You can probably sell a craptop of them to GJ members. Lots of guys live in TN on here.

Or if you don't want to separate out complete sets, maybe price them per item. But as far as an auction, the lots might go for cheap or they could go higher depending on who is bidding.

I'm definitely down and wish I could sell on here. I just have to hit the 100 post mark to do so. I think this is my 68th or 69th post.

What is your wife up to? Not to get too much into your personal business, but maybe she could help out with selling the stuff on craigs / ebay? She can nurse and do internet stuff, fyi and lol.

Maybe say she can have half of what she sells for her personal use / baby room, something?

Just a thought, but teamwork here might help.

Good luck!

Dang and I thought I had too much stuff...

Best way would be at auction over and done without all the bs of low ballers anf flakes showing up several hours before the sun comes up or having to drive to the post office just to fight the long lines.

How much time dies it take to walk around it and how much is the lost space worth? That isn't even real cleaning but stacking.

I just got the generators sold as they surrounded the pile you can see in the pic. That was awesome and cleaned up a bit.

Auction is great and is what it will probably come to, but I know they want 20% of the overall sales and another 400-500 for advertising leading up. This is for an online auction too.

Again, trying to chase 100 posts so I can start a classifieds since I know a lot of you are interested in my stuff. Still haven't heard from the auction guy.

Have a giant Garage Journal Garage Sale/BBQ... with "Friends and Family" pricing of course.... The picked-over carcass will be easier to dispose of.

In all honesty, I'm down for that if there are enough local guys to come out. Everyone is bringing something to eat and I'll get my amazing cook of neighbor to hook us up. That actually sounds like a lot of fun.

Seems like a lot of HF style items there. If you do get your 100 posts, be sure to completely describe each item. And, one seller, all items need to be in your original post, not 10 posts for 10 items.

Never did see/find the Wilton.

Sorry, I forgot to look for you. I'l see if my wife can go out and look at it for me to give you a better idea of what it is. Problem with the Wilton is shipping. You might get bit hard on that.

DO NOT USE AN AUCTION JUST GOT RIPPED OFF AT ONE. WAS AN AUCTIONEER AT ONE POINT IN LIFE AND HAD MY OWN COMPANY BUSINESS MODEL IS NOW CHANGED.

They want 35 to 50 percent to auction your stuff plus advertising and setup.

A family friend auctioned her husbands tools off (valued at $20,000-$25,000) got less than 1100.00 after a 6 hour sale.

That ***** but they've already given me the percentage charged, etc. 20% of overall and an additional 400.00 to advertise.

I agree with sberry that organization would go a long way in assisting you. A few of those "heavy duty" shelves would clean up tons of floor space. It will also be beneficial once you start listing things for sale. Mark the shelves or bins alphabetically or numerically. Photograph the items and include a handwritten note with with the location (ie, shelf 1, bin c). Then when you are looking for a specific socket or wrench set, you know exactly where it is from the photo.

Hey, I just noticed I hit 100 posts today. With that said, look for a classifieds from me sometime this week (when I have time) where I'll list a bunch of the stuff sitting around.

For some reason I can't reply in your for sale thread, but I'd like to know if you happen to have a nail gun for sale?

I do, but I'm not selling it just yet. I have a big awning to build on the side of my shop for my trailers. Probably happen in the next month then I'll let go of the nailer. Its a 21 degree one. I'm not sure of brand. Nothing special, but works great.

check craigslist for used pallet racking. 3 or 4 uprights and 12 or 18 crossbeams will net you a LOT of storage space!

Just an FYI - Classifieds rule #1 says all items must have a price. "Make offer" is auction-style stuff, so you should probably set a price on that puller.
