Tool Lot Value?

Metric or SAE mainly? most people that aren't working on old junk don't have much use for SAE these days.

I always find it funny when i see people say that, i live in canada, and i use sae 95%+ of the time at work. I very rarely run into metric, and when i do its annoying cause i automatically grab sae first tools/fastener replacements etc.

You must be working with old machinery. My auto plant had been gutted out, and everything replaced with German and Japanese machine tools -the SAE stuff stayed in the toolbox most of the time, unless we were working on piping, which seems to be the last industrial holdout for inch sizing.I always find it funny when i see people say that, i live in canada, and i use sae 95%+ of the time at work. $5/socket and $10/wrench on average depending on condition. That is assuming you take the time to sell each piece individually or you have a complete set to sell together. Looks to be $300-400 at this assumption. Less if the tools are beat up or engraved, and quite a bit less if you're looking to sell as one mis-matched lot.
It's worth exactly what you paid for it, now be happy
buyers remorse is a ***** or ask 1st not later.
Is there a complete set of anything? Looks like there might be a set of the line wrench open end combo's. If so then I'd say a hundy. If there's a complete set of name brand sockets then maybe 200 absolute tops.

Thanks guys!! I paid $350 for the vintage Mac box with side cabinet. That was waaaay more than I wanted to pay, but with the included tools it was a pretty good deal. The box is pretty dirty, so let me clean it up a bit before I post any pictures.
There is a complete set of Snap-On SAE flare/open end wrenches. I haven't checked the sockets yet but I believe there are close to three set of sockets, all SAE.
If anyone wants pix of the box before I clean it up just let me know.

Looks like $2-300 worth if you can make a couple sets, are in a decently populated area, and/or hold out for top dollar on craigs or ebay. OTOH, at auction I'd expect that to be a $50-100 lot.

I agree! Approximately 75% of the equipment I maintain/repair at work is SAE. And at home, the Canadian race cars we ran for 5 or 6 years-all SAE.
Many hours of work and not a lot of money.
Selling less then a complete set is rarely worth the effort. I would guess around $100 if the wrench set is not complete. If the set of wrenches is complete maybe $150-180. Maybe you get luck and someone on GJ needs some of the pieces. Craigslist and eBay are pretty flaky by the piece. I get offers of .10 most of the time for sockets and rarely actually sell any.
I'm not too worried because I'm not going to sell any of the tools. I paid waaaay more ($350) for the box and tools but this set just called me for some reason. He had about 5-10 behind me if I didn't want it and he was firm on his price. I think I did okay once I separate everything.

I think $350 is a pretty good price for the tool box. It blows away anything new you would get for that price. A little cleaning and oil the slides and put it back in service.

I like those 1st gen Matco boxes, older styling but without a collectible price.....yet. Thats the wider of the two sizes they made, worth a solid $2-300 for the set if its not rusty.
