I've seen several pictures in the forums here, of a German? tool review magazine. Any one know the name of it? Or if they have a website?

Also, a Japanese magazine from the owner of Deen tools.

Any other mags out there? I need my tool **** fix :pimpflash

There are several german "DIY" magazines which sometimes also feature tool tests (hand + electric indoor + outdoor tools). "Selbst ist der Mann" (www.selbst.de) and "Selber machen" (www.selbermachen.de) for example. Some of the pics you might saw are also from car magazines which sometimes also feature tool test (trolley jacks, hand tools, etc.) But they`re not comparable to "Factory Gear" which is full of hundreds of hand tool pics and reports. For tool fetishists i recommend to get a issue of "Factory Gear Magazine"

Hey Scarrylarry, seeing that you're from BC, are you talking about the store "Bookoff" in downtown Vancouver?

Despite it being all Japanese, you'll still get to see lots of eye candy! .....but pricey for sure. Once you get one, you'll be craving for the next season's issue for sure. I bet Monte wil be pre-ordering next year's. :D

Never know who you will find on web forums. Thanks to both of you for the information.I have not ordered the book yet.The price quote came from Iwase books.I tried Sophia books but could not get hooked up to their website. Not sure, but I think they are closing shop.I will check out Amazon.

Monte,

Does the 2010 issue of Factory Gear Magazine have a picture or two of the Anex 1550 series screwdrivers?

I would like to see a close up of the handle. I am curious to see if the black section of the handle is made of soft or hard plastic.

Thanks,

Dave

Here's mine rebranded as Kowa, and Monte is right about the description.

Superautobacs,

Have you used the Kowa screwdriver much? If yes, what are the positives and negatives of this screwdriver? How does the Kowa compare to your favorite cross recess screwdriver in your collection?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

Honestly, this was more of a novelty purchase for me as I'm a Honda fan.

I have used it on a few screws here and there just to get a feel for the tip and the handle. The tip is certainly adequate; nothing bad to say about them. Certain screws fit the tip better than others--something common regardless of brand.

The tip is magnetized, the handle is square with rounded edges (more comfortable than SO hard handle, IMO).

Superautobacs,

Would you say that the Kowa screwdriver is about average in terms of handle design and driving performance? Do you like your Ko-ken screwdrivers (based on the same criteria) more than the Kowa?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

I'd give it an average, at least. The Ko-ken is great in that it offers a tremendous amount of grip. However, if you're working in a dirty environment, the crevices of the nippled areas will trap grease/dirt/oil.

Hope that helps.
