Anyone notice the growth of this conglomerate? It is the result of the merger of Cooper Industries and Danaher's mechanics tools group and is separate from Danaher now, as an independent company.

They carry the Sata brand which is, I think, the only mechanics tools in China with a lifetime guarantee. Anyway, there are a ton of brands under this one roof now. Just thought it might be of interest.

Yes, the split also coincided with Craftsman switching to Chinese made.

Danaher spun off everything but Matco. The joint venture isn't growing though, it was sold to Bain Capital so expect to see it shrink as they decide which brands aren't worth carrying. KD tools looks to be the first to go.

There are a few made in China tool companies that offer lifetime warranties. Craftsman and Gearwrench are the first two that come to mind.

Fairly old news that has been rehashed here several times but, that's ok. Country of origin is a touchy subject here.

I always refer to Apex as the chinafication of previously US made tool brands. I love my Gearwrench tools but, sometimes it's bittersweet knowing that it cost KD Tools.:(

Hey, did you know that SATA (not the paint gun people) and MATCO have the same logo?
