just helping out with the tool brand upade...im posting this from wikipedia.

Husky is a line of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and tool storage products. It is the house brand of The Home Depot, where it is exclusively sold. Its hand tools are manufactured for Home Depot by The Stanley Works[1]. Its slogan is "The toughest name in tools."

Husky hand tools were formerly manufactured in the United States[2] but are now made in China. All Husky hand tools have a lifetime warranty; however, the customer must have the original receipt to redeem it

Although most of the company's plants and employees are located in Germany (112,300 employees), Bosch is a truly worldwide company.[1] In North America, Robert Bosch LLC (a wholly owned Bosch subsidiary) has corporate headquarters in Farmington Hills, MI; with factories and distribution facilities in Mt. Prospect, IL; Hoffman Estates, IL; Broadview, IL; Kentwood, MI; Waltham, MA; Clarksville, TN; Anderson, SC;Charleston, SC; South Bend, IN; and 11 other cities. The Research Technology Center is located in Palo Alto, CA near Stanford University. There are also two corporate sites in Brazil and ten in Mexico where a central purchasing office for all divisions of Bosch Group is located.

Quite a list guys. I see some old friends on it. Mainly SK, Blackhawk, Bonney, ....

It will be nice to know which companies are "made in the USA" but we might remember that some of the company's older tools were made right here.

Also just because the tools are made overseas doesn't mean that they are junk. It's an indicator of the quality and the buyer needs to beware.

Oh, by the way.. most of my handtools are SK, bonney, and OLD Blackhawks.

Vaughn mfg co in Ohio, I think, makes hammers and pry bars. In my area of the SE Plumb was the hammer of choice for both claw hammers and ball pein for the 20th century, but they have gone to China. Apparantly Vaughn has seen an opportunity and their hammers are sold at the big box stores. Cornwell also sells their hammers.

Found out about Vaughn pry bars when I got one along with a 10 mm Cornwell combo wrench in pawn shop for $2.50 and saw the made in USA markings on it.

Probably one of the most informative threads ive read on the net, in some time.

As an ex-Cornwell dealer, I can honestly say, the companies 'heart' is in the right place. Keeping it small, Ohio-based, family run, hardline tools manufactured with US grade steel. Their pliers are rebadged Channel Lock (US), their power tools are a mix of overseas (they all do it), and rebadged IR.

Lisle is made in the USA, but wouldnt be surprised if they outsourced a bit to stay alive.

KD Tools (hardline wrenches/sockets, etc) still forged/made in the USA

Stanley bought Mac, think i already saw that, so thats a tough gig for a dealer, when the same product line is available at Walmart..not bashing, just sayin

Blue Point is indeed Snap-On 'sub line'..also no warranty..

Snap On does indeed outsource their steel to China. No secret. I own older Snap On tools, so not a bash, just the route theyve taken.

I heard SK Tools was on the ropes, if not out of business (?) This was a rumor awhile back, when the union went on strike at the factory. Anyone informed want to pipe in?

and for what it's worth Sata is probably the worst air tool on the market

first time posting on this forum but have been a reading for a while now.
btw i am completely against chinese! tools and do everything to svoid them. over the past 5 years ive contacted about 30-50 tool companies to c where theres tool are made...this is what i have to contribute
mayhew is 100% except for its "catspaw" line
wera is czech rep
lisle is about 80% usa (i even have the list)
jet nearly 100 orient
ADD hazet...germany

Its rly hard because pretty much every company outsources and rebrands...because of that, i think EVERy company should include the country of origin as Snap-on does

I really like the list being built here. It helps me in my search for quality tools. However (I hate to say this) I'm beginning to believe that the list needs to be broken down to individual tools by the different companies. OR at least by dates (something like all Craftsman Pre-19XX are made in USA).

Most of my tools are S&K but I do have some 30 year old Blackhawks stuff too (and some Bonney). I've never broken any of them doing what they were intended to do.

thats completely impossible...the list would be be indefinably long and take a full time team to keep it current....think about it...hundreds of manufactures..most every company outsources to MANY countries even within a specific product line...
it should be up to the manufacture to specify the CoO...and would make it a huge deal easier for people looking for quality products to be informed. ESPECIALLY with the amount of online purchases made.

Please email tool manufactures requesting that they specify a tools country of origin.(which would be most reading this thread)

Blue point carries the same lifetime warranty as any Snap on hand tool.Up until recently most Blue point hand tools were Canadian/American production. Many fine Bluepoint tools made in the last hundred years.

Yeah, after I thought about it I realized how stupid the idea was.

You wouldn't happen to have E-Mail addresses to the different manufacturers?

I'm giving this thread a boot. It hasn't been posted to in over four years. I found the site while searching for something unrelated. I don't recollect seeing this organization before.
