Tool Marking paint for ID

I was thinking I heard of a paint sold just fore making tools with your choioce of color. What I rember it was a polyurthane in a bottle with a brush.

I'm about to embark on marking some of the tools that are identicle to my sons.

I'm thinking of drilling a small indentation and painting it.

Want to make something unique so where ever I may be, I can tell at a glance what is mine.

I'm just talking pliers, hammers, that sort of tool, not all of the wrenches and sockets.

nail polish might work well.

How about just a "pssst" from a rattle can in a wild color on each tool. Not permanent and easy to ID. Plus you won't wear out your drill bits on hardened tools.

I would think a paint would wear off pretty quick.

I use the green dip it as seen here, many colors are available and smaller quantity as well, if you get tired of it you can peel it off.http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97311&page=51

You would be surprised, it stays on there longer than you would think.

Paint can last a while. What gave me the idea was I have wrenches from my Dad that he just spray painted, and Im talking 6 plus years ago, and the paint down in the stampings is still in good shape.

I figuired paint that is somewhat protected would last a while.

I also dont use daily, so that should help.

1 shot pinstripe paint. It's pretty hard, and stays on fairly well if you at least try to avoid scratching it. I believe it's an enamel paint.

I used nail polish, just kept a bottle & touched up once a month or so when worked w/ my tools. Putting it in a small depression might help prevent some wiseacre from chipping it off.
