has anybody used these from Sears??
I use the cheap metal clip rails for my sockets. I mount them to strips of 3/4" thick wood that I rip to about 1/1/2" wide and stand them up in my top tray of my chest. I paint the wood red for sae and grey for metric. It keeps them organized. My wrench drawer, however, is a disaster!! I think I'm going with the plastic racks for wrenches. I've looked at the foam ones from Craftsman like you posted a pix of. Im concerned how they would hold up after a lot of use, but don't have any experience with them. They may be fine.
You could always make your own, just get a couple yoga/exercise mats at the store. Lay one down and cut out the area of the tools on the other and lay it down over the solid one.
You can see what's missing very easily (if you use 2 different colors) and it keeps them from sliding around etc.

no it's the foam rails you cut to fit your drawers for dividers and they are slotted to hold wrenches.

My son in law has a thick foam pad in his drawers and he cut them out to hold his tools. I like this the best but dose anyone know where I can purchase the pads?

I'm with most of you on socket storage... I use an older plastic sears plan.. flat plastic panel with holes in it... raised size numbers beside each hole. Sorry no pic today.
AND the wrench racks look good.... but do you guys only have one of each size... I was looking thru /straightening out my wrench drawer the other day wondering how to organize and I have at least 3 of every size up thru 1-1/2 or 2" seems like the rack only holds one of each size doesn't it ??. Please don't tell me you use one sized correctly and a cresent wrench on the other side ???
Mine are just layed out left to right in approximate size order... standard in one drawer, metric in another then the big stuff 1-1/2" and up takes up a deep drawer down lower......
find me something that will handle four 1/2" and four 9/16" and six 3/4" and I'm interested

I agree with John ^. Even I, with my minimal collection, have a couple of duplicates.
It seems like someone could invent a system that used a sheet of plastic molded similarly to commercial slatwall. The scale would be much smaller of course, and the sheets would lay flat in the tool box drawers. Individually molded "supports" would be slid into the slots into a custom configuration that would perfectly accommodate anybody's collection.
I'd do this myself 'cept I have my fingers in too many pies as it is, but I think working with injection molded plastics is a cheap industry to have things made (even still done in the U.S.) so I toss this idea out freely. Just send me a few free samples...

001a this is first pull drawer for sockets/rachets... and the sears socket organizers for 3/8 & 1/4... I don't use much 1/2 for automotive tinkering

004a first reach for hand wrench is this drawer... from 3/8 up thru 1", shorties, standard and tappet... a few gear wrenches thrown in... this is the first of my problem drawers

007 big boys... 1" - 2-1/2" open end and combo.. this drawer makes me long for ball bearing slides....definitely needs some organization... but hard in these drawers... we might need another cabinet !!!

Those Khaki painted sockets remind me of a lot of the tools I saw on Ft. Bragg when I was growing up. That picture brought back a lot of memories of going with my dad on weekend evenings to check on the guards around many buildings and shops on base. That ones going into my saved file.

i think MTS used to be the supplier to matco & mac. they might not be anymore.
i bought quite a few MTS socket and wrench holders from matco years ago, that didnt have matco's name on them.
i dont like socket rails at all, i prefer the oem metal trays or the MTS socket holders.

Yes. I think all of the tool truck brands are carrying them now, with their own branding on the front. Tooltopia carries them also. They are nice, I have a few.
