Whenever I clean my Porter Cable HVLP gun, I'm prone to losing some small part of it when I take it apart for cleaning. I needed "inventory control." I liked the tool blocks I saw used a lot in machine shop, so made one for my paint gun. It also allows me to store the gun in pieces, which I prefer.
Two pieces of ply glued together, then forstner bits to make the holes. The horizontal slots were made using a round nose router bit on the mill...which was easy and worked WAY better than all the predictions I've seen. ("Mill can't turn the bit fast enough" is what they all say. I got nice clean cuts, so no complaints.) Then some yellow water stain I had left over from a toy project for my kid, and several coats of urethane to finish.
Now when I disassemble the gun, I know that any hole not filled, means a search for the missing part before it's too late.
