Tool prep for wall display

Hey everyone,

I was wondering what could I use to permanently keep old wrenches from rusting. I'm in the process of derusting old wrenches in vinegar so I can clean them up and mount them in a shadow box of some sort on the wall as art. I've read the threads about using paste wax but I assume it would have to be reapplied once in a while? Would clear coating the wrenches be a permanent fix and if so would I have to use some kind of adhesion promoter beforehand to make sure it sticks? Thanks

I think clear coating would be the answer. Do you live in a humid climate?

I clear coat things like this and as long as it's not exposed to daylight, have never had any issues.

I live in New England so it's pretty moderate and humidity should not be too much of an issue I believe. LXCam do you do any extra prepping work or do you just spray the clear coat on?

Once the rust or oxidation is gone, blast it with brake cleaner (the type that leaves no oily residue) and hit it with a torch to fire off the last of any bad stuff n instantly coat it.
