Found this on the website at the link below. I havent looked at it closely but at a glance it looks like a descent DIY alternative to pegboard. Wanted to pass this on to you guys as I am always looking for new/different ways to do things in the garage. Seems to be a good tool/storage idea for lighter tools. What do you all think? Has anyone ever seen this before?

Nice idea for quick tool choice but the height would be too troublesome to get the upper tools and if you have a bench in front even that much harder.
I feel a peg board or tool storage rack like this one needs to be easily accessible for all the tools.

I just had to have peg board all over my shop. I thought that's what I needed. I have since covered a ton of the peg board with shelving and other stuff. I think sometimes if I would just relax and let spaces unfold instead of rushing to get spaces finished I would save a lot of time and money.:shocking:

I'm too enticed by this: http://www.peghooks-pegboardhooks.com/Pages/default.aspx

Made in USA, quite cheap, great reviews from what I've read, and the kits are pretty well equipped.

No experience with their pegboard, but I'm using their hooks based on a recommendation from here and they've worked out great :)

My favorites are the pliers "box" style hook and the reinforced "L" shape for drills and such. The fit of the hooks is excellent - I'm using ancient, plain pegboard (the stuff's probably as old as I am) and it fits almost too snugly. With modern hardboard or plastic boards, there'd be less chance for it to pull at the holes.

I... uh... was advised to be very confident about where I put the plugs in the plastic board because allegedly they hold the board pretty damn well.

OP: Everyone has a way they prefer to access their tools. I'm not a fan of having everything "out" to collect dust, metal shavings, etc. Tool chests are better, in my opinion.

That said - if you want something like this - I would recommend slat wall - you can easily make all sorts of tool holders without the trouble of ALSO creating the slat wall itself.

Another thing to think through (a tip o' the hat to your screen name) - if you look closely, the holders are "full" - what happens when you buy another chisel or screwdriver? A single tool purchase creates another "to-do".

Just my 2p

I used their products to outfit my gas welding supply cabinet:

The hooks fit very snugly into the pegboard, and are quite sturdy. They have a nice variety of peg options from hooks to clips and more.
The pegboard is very strong and sturdy, and easy to install with it's built-in spacer webbing on the back and screw holes provided for attachment.

I have some of the hooks that Steevo has, and I did buy then again. Just be aware they are made for 1/4" pegboard, not the 3/16" sold at the Borg and his blue brother!

I was opposed to peg board for a long time, but have finally broken down and placed a small section over my workbench and honestly I really like it.

I dont keep everything up there but it is nice to keep a set of wrenches, screwdrivers, tapemeasures, hammer, drills, and other commonly used tools up there.
