-A set of gearwrench jumbo size SAE wrenches (bought on clearance, used one wrench one time and gave away the set)
-Mixed set of large (15/16 - 1 1/2in) SAE wrenches that I cobbled together and have never used but won't get rid of because I keep saying I will need them some day
-A 48" pipe wrench that I bought at a yard sale for $5 and later gave away, never used.
- A sickle (it looked cool)
- A set of King **** whitworth wrenches that I have never used

This really is a great thread! As pointed out by others, it is interesting to see what tools are preferred, and what others find useful! I learn something new here everyday.

I have the indexing harbor freight version in 1/2" drive and I use it all the time. The main difference though is that the harbor freight version can rotate a full 360 degrees at the pivot. I use it as a simple crank with the pivot set in "free spin" mode to quickly raise and lower my small lift table and my scissor jacks when they are unloaded or in free air, and then once they are extended high enough to begin lifting something I flip the ratchet back into locked mode and ratchet away. It is nice because all I have to do is change out the socket for the ratchet to work with all my scissor jacks and my manual scissor table.

My 1/4" is probably too light duty for that but glad to see you are making use of your indexing ratchet...great idea and off to HF with 25% off

Dunno if it was mentioned before but in the late '80's/early90's I could not get rid of my laminated Craftsman pliers soon enough.

Craftsman RoboGrip pliers bought new back in the late 1980's.

I can put them around my thumb and squeeze as hard as I can and no "Owie!". LOLZ.
But true.

Off to the Island of Misfit Tools...err...toys they went along with the "Charlie in the Box." LOLZ Rudolf TRNRD.

I'm right there with you on the Robo-Grips. Plus they are too big and clunky to get anywhere remotely tight. And the handles are so far apart, I need to use two hands on them to get them started.

Seems this thread is lots of which tool did you buy and not know the correct application for? Or not have a need. Or not know how to use it.

Of the things listed so far many of them are tools I use and like, and many of the complaints are because the person didn't have a need for the tool to start with. Or bought the wrong tool for the job.

I was expecting more examples of buying something that either plain and simple didn't work as advertised and/or was pure **** to start with.

If it is a good tool but not used/appreciated that is "buyer remorse" not "tool remorse"

I think that's exactly what the OP described in the first post...

I wanted to start this thread to discuss tools that you bought then later wished you had not along with the reason.

Most of us know about the **** gimmick tools already (Robogrip, etc.) Just because one person regrets a purchase doesn't mean it's a bad tool or that anyone else is "wrong" for liking it. Different strokes for different folks. [emoji106]

Indeed, we're all different. I'd say don't overthink the purpose of the thread. It can be tool remorse or buyer remorse. Some tools I regret because they **** while others I regret because I shouldn't have bought them to start with. I just thought it would make good discussion to talk about tools you regret buying whatever the reason.

The aforementioned RoboGrips I used a few times, until I wore out the jaw protectors, since then they have sat in my box for several years unused.

Makita "sawzall". I went on a Makita buying frenzy several years ago. All of the other tools I've used a bit, some I have used a lot. The sawzall was a waste of $ though. I know a lot of people (incl. my former boss) can't live without them,, but other than demo work, which I never do (I hate renos!) I see no use for it. I prefer cutting with a circular saw, jig saw, hand saw, hacksaw, angle grinder or pneumatic die grinder with a small cut off wheel. I've had the sawzall close to 10 years, I used it once, to try it out!

Campbell Hausfeld air chisel. All my buddies use their air chisels a lot, but I've had mine for more than a decade and I don't think I've ever used it. As a matter of fact I don't even remember if I have the chisels for it lol. At least it looks nice in my tool box alongside my well used impact, air ratchet and die grinder while I use a hammer and my Gray chisels and punches!

Tire Irons. I needed to change the tire on my motorcycle trailer, so I got some tire irons. No dice. I've changed plenty of bicycle tires, with their little tire irons. I've got a Cycle Hill tire changer for my motorcycle tires, but for whatever reason, I just couldn't get the blasted trailer tire off with the irons. Perhaps it's an operator error, but the fact remains that those irons sit in my box an sneer at me every time I open that drawer.

King **** Whitworth offset "ring spanners" (aka box end wrenches). I use Whitworth, but these wrenches are very long and never fit into the space I'm working in. Total disaster, but they're nicely polished and never soiled (due to lack of use)!
