I've been watching a bunch of tool restoration videos on Youtube recently - vises, anvils, hammers, screwdrivers, all kinds of power tools, etc. The trouble is that many of them are pretty lame...some guy grinds some rust off a tool he found in a pile of junk, spritzes it with some black paint, and calls it done. Not a lot of repair work and not much talent required.
On the other hand, I just watched this one where they restore an air powered die grinder and thought it was quite well done:
He does some nice cleaning and polishing, blackening some parts with a torch and quenching them in oil, replacing bearings, machining a new air hose connector and bending to shape. I wish more of them were like this one.
