I picked up one of those 7.2v skil power wrenches today at Home Depot. They'd been on sale for 19 dollars this past weekend, but they were out. I asked around, apparently they were not planning on ordering any more, so I asked if I could buy the floor display (the one that comes with the charger of course). Manager comes back, says no problem, it'll be 5 bucks. I couldn't believe it. So, obviously, I took it. Bought it at 10:30, used it by 3. Definitely worth the trouble of asking.

Nice score!! Hey is that the one that looks like a battery powered ratchet? Let us know how it works. I thought it was gimicky but who knows. And for 5 bucks I'd be willing to test it out too!!

I'm surprised that it didn't sell that well. That tool has decent specs, operated well, and wasn't priced too high.

I guess it just seemed too gimmicky for most people. I considered buying it, but I just couldn't see myself using it that often.

Yeah, it's the one that looks like a battery powered ratchet. Here's some pictures.

It worked pretty well today, some of the locking nuts were torqued pretty tight on the shelf I was taking apart, and I had to break them loose by hand (just turn the power wrench) to get them started. But it was definitely much quicker than using a regular 1/4" ratchet. Easier too. So, it's only good for the low torque applications, but it is damn good for them. As a guy with a limited budget for tools, buying this at the 65 dollar original price was out of the question. but for the sale price of 19, and the awesome floor model price of 5, this was a good investment for me. Not totally necessary, but nice to have. Like a power drill over the old hand crank ones. Not necessary, but really nice to have.

Actually, although the motor is only capable of low torque operation (up to 75 in-lbs), you can use it in manual mode to apply up to 400 in-lbs.

I picked on of these up, too. Didn't get as good of a deal, though (I paid 19). Anyway, it's been very useful with under dash work, especially when you use a long 1/4 extension. It was certainly worth 19 bucks.

do you happen to have a part number for the thing? or maybe a stock number from the reciept?

i went to the closest home depot tonight and they didnt seem to have it

i might can call around and check the other HDs and see if they have it

That's not the first time Skil has come out with that tool. Iv'e had one for at least twenty years, unfortunately the battery gave out long ago. It's all silver, about a foot long. Says Skilwrench. It's 3/8 drive. I'll try and post a pic. later. I almost bought the new style the other day. This one hung on the wall in it's charger. Battery tech. wasn't that great back then.

We had several of these for Christmas at the Sears store I work at. After Christmas was over they got pulled from the shelf and have been in the stock room ever sence. Check with your local Sears store, they may have some in stock.
