Hey guys. I need some help! I've got a Snap on KRSC43 ( https://store.snapon.com/KRSC43-Ser...ss-Steel-Split-Top-Midnight-Blue-P769898.aspx ) packed to the top. The upper portion has all my sockets in hansen trays, my ratchets and extensions and torque wrenches. The first drawer is full up with pliers. The second drawer has my screwdrivers and prybars in it. The third has all my electrical diagnostic stuff in it. Fourth is open ended wrenches, theres a bit of room in there but not much, could probably fit a couple screwdrivers inbetween. The fifth has all of my power tools in it, not an inch of room to spare. And the bottom drawer is all my diagnostic equipment/kits that have to remain in their plastic cases, a lisle spill free funnel and my power tool chargers. Since i'm out of room in my toolbox i was wondering what way to go. Space is limited in the garage as it's not my house so reorganizing it is out of the question. I could probably fit a cart in it somehow, but thats about all the room i have, since the top of my box splits and slides left and right, i have to keep room open on either side. I was thinking of buying a cart and moving all my hand tools into it, so when i'm working in the driveway i can wheel it out with me, but any cart i like has a 3" top and that wont fit my trays of sockets. I'd like pliers, drivers and prybars, ratchets and sockets in it, and maybe some electrical stuff. I like this cart ( http://www.sunextools.com/index.cfm?s=detail&subcat=128&item=437 ) but the fourth drawer is the only one i'll be able to fit sockets, and being low i'd worry that it would tip, even if i put the 1/2" stuff in the back. Anybody have any better carts for the money? Any other ideas?

The KRSC 43 and 46 are considered carts from Snap On. I have a KRSC46 myself, love it and yes you can fit just about everything for the day to day work in either. Look at the HF 4 drawer or 5 drawer carts. I have a 4 drawer and for the money it's a great cart.

Well, yeah, i know it's considered a "cart" but I mean a roll cart. It's large enough to me to consider it a box, i wouldn't want to push that thing around all day lol.

$250 is not much of a budget for tool storage, is this kept at your home or are you a pro mechanic and this is in a garage?

if its your private garage then its easy, just stick the tools to the sides with magnets, but if its a public garage, then you need them locked up...

$250 is a tough budget, I would check craigslist..

if your pressed for cash the only thing in your price range is going to be the harbor freight 5 drawer or 4 drawer.

Unless you find a toolbox on craigslist for cheap.

do you need it locked and tools must be inside at all times?

if not, how about mounting a pegboard or some other style of adding "space" on the outside of the box/cart. option also move/mount those chargers to the side of the cart? and same with prybars. the funnel likely takes alot of room too.

if you can fit one of those open bottom carts into your garage.. i would still advice getting a normal drawer cart instead (no open/wasted space, but drawers instead). it takes about the same space and you will likely fill it anyways.. if not with more tools. but by making the snapon carts drawers less crowded. (i would move all electrical tools, diagnostics, funnels, powertools and what not into one cart, and keep the mechanical tools in other. and roll that snap on then where you need it.)

Get a red HF tool cart, then get a sheet of plywood and spend a little time enclosing the open area on the underside. Put a little locking door on the bottom area, and you will have a lot of room for $159 + some plywood and some fasteners. To be more fancy, use some sheet metal instead of ply.
