I pass through Cincy pretty regularly for work, and have often wondered whether there were tool stores like Epsteins in KC that everybody loves. Anybody from the Cincy area know of anything I’ve been missing?

If you get up to Dayton, the Gerstner factory is there. Dunno if they give tours for visitors, but it's worth a phone call.

Mendelson Electronics is a 4 story electronic surplus store they have all kinds of parts there in Dayton. The Gerstener store has a showroom not sure about tours through the working area though.

You’re pretty much SOL if you’re looking for a tool store in Cincinnati.

If you like USA Craftsman tools, there’s an antique mall in Springfield, OH called Heart of Ohio Antique Mall. This is a huge and I mean HUGE antique mall. There’s a booth in the rear of one of the aisles that has thousands of Craftsman wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, ratchets, extension bars, etc... all USA made ranging from -V- series on up to the very end of the USA production run in the early 2010’s. You can literally spend hours sifting through it. Prices are reasonable. I’m not sure where he gets it all from... one guess was military surplus since Wright Patt Air Force Base is up that way.

If you like cheap, China made tools, there are a couple small tool stores inside of Traders World Flea Market in Monroe off of I-75, between Dayton and Cincinnati. He carries some Pittsburgh, Tekton, Stanley and other brands.

Several years ago there was a guy on this board who had a tool store in Cinn. He had SK and used stuff. Some searching might find more info.

I went to his store a couple of times, it was only about 5 miles away. He closed it, sign on the window said that he was going to re-open at a nearby location but that never happened.

Mendelsons, that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. Spent many hours rummaging thru there when I lived there. Never knew what you’d find. Glad to hear it’s still around.

I read about Mendelson's on a few old threads here. Thought it sounded like worth a trip over to Dayton.

Unfortunately, they closed at the end of 2020 and Sandy Mendelson passed in July of this year. From what I've read, the building's been torn down and replaced with a Marriot.
