Is there any diesel techs working out of tool trailers in the USA? Here in aus all sorts of tradies seem to work out of trailers but no mechanics. I'm thinking of setting up trailer but after some ideas.

Are you going to be working "off the grid" (American for "in the out back") ? Besides a good compressor, you will need a good generator !

Not working as a mech, but I did set up a trailer for onsite welding and construction, I found a used utility bed/box and built a trailer for it to sit on, wish I had a few pics but this was back in the early 90's.

It was set up something like this,

I had a longer tongue with the miller gen/welder mounted on it and a better ladder rack, and a twin tank gas powered compressor mounted on top with a hose reel.

I also had double axels.

I have seen in trade magazines lube trailers designed to carry everything a mechanic would need to PM 's in the field. Never seen one in real life. In general if you can't fit everything on a service, you get a bigger truck. It is not unheard of to have a ford F750 service truck.

i cant say i have seen any mechanics use trailers for there every day tools, i know one welder guy that keeps his big welder on his trailer and only brings it when he needs it.

what it makes me think of though. it s a whole lot easier to steal a trailer than a truck. alot easier to hide too.

Kinda like this, you can carry several complete ford engines in the back to swap em with :)
