Tried to ask this as a piggyback on another post. So my question is did this type of tray only come with one brand? Maybe they were not structurally strong and were discontinued? One with the box on C.L., the other I have, an orphan..6fd16c4f73763aa67b48b051acbdfe36.jpgfd2f9a389e811771af94a889c669e5d7.jpg6b49fbc7b61cdb0d5d9a33dda0b6fb7d.jpg

That’s pretty cool. I’d use that. I can see people preferring a traditional handle so they can carry the tray in one hand, leaving the other free. But for a tray with heavy tools and parts I think this is awesome. Plus no handle to get in the way. Wish I had one!

I don’t use it, doesn’t fit any of my boxes. I got it because it is different than normal and I will clean it up and put it in the shed for light stuff and bench work. Still curious about who made it and what box it came with.

Here's a very similar mid to late 40s Craftsman box with that kind of tray. There's at least one other example of an oddball Craftsman box and an SK box having the same OEM.

I have a tray like that... along with the box. I don't see any markings on it anywhere. I thought the handles were unusual as well.

Looks identical! One of us should measure the length and width and that may help determine the brand or maker. Thanks for posting that.[emoji106]

My 1970s era Craftsman hip roof box has the single bar that runs length of tray.
I would not want one of the two-hands-required trays with any box i use.
