Hello all. I’m now on the final stretch of my restoration of a beaten up Snap-On Bluepoint Service Trolley.
IMG_2961.JPGIMG_3060.JPGIMG_3058.JPGIMG_2961.JPG

However as you can see it’s just missing a few bits. Casters and locks. I’ve sorted the wheels however have been destroying my brain for the past 4 hours trying to find the correct cam locks.

Any help is appreciated. Pictured below is the hole for the locksIMG_3049.JPG

have you inquired to SnapOn proper to see if they have a replacement lock set?

I have looked online and have no lock sets matching the number for the trolley unfortunately

Nice job on the restoration.

Any special paint prep tips? What did you use?

Thanks. I obviously stripped it all down desperately for best coverage and degreased the lot and have it a proper good clean up. I used parts cleaner and petroleum based parts was to clean up all the draw runners and hinges. The draw rollers are as good as new now and so smooth.

I took it to a place to get sand blasted and powder coated for best results. The finish is the same as a brand new box really. And so far seems very durable, not a mark during the rather clumsy assembly stage [emoji846]

Wow, nice job. The before photo shows locks, did they disappear? Want something different?

BTW is that a greenish gray?

When I was stripping it down one had fallen apart and I foolishly thought they’d be easy to get. However I took the plunge and picked up a cheap pack of 3 for £8 thinking nothing really to loose and fortunately there perfect!! The colour is an Audi RS Grey colour or “Storm Grey” as snapon refer to it.

Now just need some draw liners...what do people use?

Drawer liners i use yoga mats you can get them off amazon in an array of colors. Pretty thick and tools do not slide around on them.

You should have no problem finding locks, that hole is known as a "Double D" configuration.

There are really cheap ones out there on Amazon that will fit. If you cannot find quality stuff, find an outfit that sells vending equipment.

Pictured is a partial collection of my locks that would fit, depending upon the level of security you want.

Also what’s people’s socket organisation like? Favourite rails or holders?

Thanks

Off to a good start!

I chose to make my own socket boxes, not finding what I wanted out there.

Very nice! Really like the idea for the Torx, Hex etc, very space saving but effective. I prefer my sockets upright so I can fit more in but those red and blue verticals look very high quality!

Struggling to find anything which ticks all my boxes, love the wrestling metal trays but hard to buy from over in the UK

My favorite drawer liner is vinyl hall runner that you can purchase by the foot. In use here for more than forty years, cheap and durable.

Thought I’d update this. Completely forgot about it!! Some recent photos I’ve taken of the trolley. Has been daily used since the beginning of the year and love it. Am now starting to really stretch its storage potential. Been looking at ideas to add a side cab or more draws by looking out for another kart I can strip down for just the drawers.

And before anyone says, yes they are clean. I look after my kit 😃
