Why the f*ck do you all care what the other guy uses?
government tools have no warranty

Not true. I buy the same snap on tools that are found on the truck at 55% off of list for most items. Snap on warranties everything we buy from them.
Listen, no amount of bitching will make the nonbelivers in tool trucks into believers and vice versa.
There are are great tool truck dealers and there are tool truck dealers that **** soo bad, I wouldn't buy from them over the years.
It is true that non tool truck brands have improved their quality over the years to as good as a tool truck brand. It's also true that things like flank drive (off corner engagement) that were once only found on a tool truck brand can be found elsewhere now.
However, no store that I know of offers the pay as you earn option. What store gives you the tools and lets you pay them off as you use them?
I loved the tool truck in my dealership days. I worked 5.5 days a week and the last thing I wanted to do when off was warranty tools. A good tool truck dealer can be an asset to a mechanic/shop. Don't forget there are also a few independent mobile tool dealers out there too helping mechanics fix cars.
Online purchasing may have changed the way tools are purchased but, a good tool dealer is still a keeper! who the hell wants to mail tools in for warranty?![]()
IF you have access to a truck, and that truck is driven by a good guy, IMO there is no better place to buy tools.
You just cant compare doing business with a handshake and smile to clicking a few buttons on a screen.
All of them that takes M/C, Visa, AmEx, etc. If I have to have it now, and pay for it later, it's financing on the terms I have chosen when I select the card to use, as opposed to the dealer who wants weekly rather than monthly payments. It's incredibly rare that I don't pay it outright at purchase time, but when I do float it, it goes on the 0% for 12 months card. However, no store that I know of offers the pay as you earn option. The dealer makes a lot of difference. Mine only shows up once, maybe twice in a month (and that's only after multiple calls requesting the tool ordered 2 weeks ago be delivered), and sells at straight list, regardless of whether you finance it, or pay it all cash up front. Financing costs money. When I get the same price for cash outright, it means I'm paying for the financing whether I use it or not. No thanks...Online purchasing may have changed the way tools are purchased but, a good tool dealer is still a keeper! who the hell wants to mail tools in for warranty?![]()
