I was given a set of brand new in the box snap-on wrenches in standard and was wondering if it would be possible to exchange them for a metric set instead? Has anyone had trouble doing an exchange of this sort? I haven't met the local snappy guy and I am not sure what to expect.

might be a good idea if someone in your local garage could do it for ya, if their spending with him he may be up for it,

It depends, sometimes the metrics are more expensive... So it might not be a straight up trade, and you'll probably just get some kind of discounted price with a trade in, Still in original packaging or not. Then again it all depends on the dealer and your repoir with him.

Yeah, if you had bought from him it'd be a no brainer, may want to buy some other atuff in the same transaction.

Every snap on salesman that Ive dealt with has always accepted trades. Like others stated, it may not be a straight up trade but you wont know that untill you ask. I dont see you getting hassled too much.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I will try contacting corporate on Monday and take it from there. If they can help me out with a cool dealer then that would be nice. If they could exchange it out right that would be cool too. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens. And for the record it is sealed, just as it came when purchased off of the truck.

Buy something off the truck, then do your trade. Makes you look like you aren't there for a free trade-in service. You need something else off there anyway. My dealer welcomes trade-ins, takes new items straight across, and even has a "used" drawer where the used trade-ins go. It is the first place everyone looks to see what treasures are in there from his previous stops. He takes a used tool, trades it in for what he will sell it for (he puts no mark-up on the used tool), then he moves a new item you put your credit toward. Smart businessman.

Dont expect a straight trade, thats almost insulting to a dealer. They dont carry much inventory of SAE anymore so it would be hard for him to sell. I bet he offers your 50-75 bucks max in trade in value.

Unless he services an airport.

Sell'em on here, then take the cash and walk onto the truck. Post a pic and set number, I might be interested.

If you don't know the dealer let someone who does ask for the trade. And like others said don't expect a straight trade. Usually metric sets come with more wrenches= more money.

OEX711B is not a current catalog item from SO. So you might not be able to exchange it for the metric set of the same series, since that is also no longer a sold set.
