Why?

They seem boring to me - showing the tools features, usage, etc. - sure.

I could maybe see a Nepors unboxing - once.

Or something that comes in a Bubinga wood case - otherwise, NO

Sometimes it’s nice to know what comes in the box,
How well or shittily the manufacturer packs/packed the item,
Whether other issues like corrosion could happen in storage,
Whether there may be grease or oil that needs to be cleaned up,
Etc.
It’s also nice to know how certain items originally fit in a tool case, since modern plastic tool cases routinely don’t have room for things like the tool cord.

They are only go if they go into details about the tool and show further details about it. Many people live in areas where tools and other things can only be bought online. So seeing a video of it may be good for so be people.

They are completely worthless. The only videos worse than these are the "bozo" Reacts to: Put the name of a classic rock song here, videos. Like I give a **** what somebody else thinks of a Led Zeppelin or Rush classic that they claim they have never heard before. GET A JOB LOSER!!

AVEs totally unbiased (sometimes booze soaked!!!) rambling unboxing vijeos are the only ones I really like to watch!!!! (Even the "Hazard Fart" stuff gets an honest review)

I've got fed up with Milwaukee unboxing, where some 21 year old "tech" always has $10,000 worth of brand new stuff to "review" how it really holds up after 3 days of working on some dumb project (its always awesome BTW suprisingly) :)

Matco seems to be having a bit of a push with ridiculously big toolboxes recently as well I've noticed on a couple of channels where nobody ever seems to be fixing vehicles ever!!!!!!

I hate ****** internet influencers :(

Can't stand those either. Especially when the 'review' is basically the guy saying 'I think this tool will last a long time', 'it feels well made', or something of that nature.

That is what every prospective buyer is hoping/thinking. The whole point of reviews is to confirm/deny that suspicion. Not list what came in the box.

I notice amazon reviews are the same thing more and more often. People leaving positive reviews after just receiving the item, not actually using it.

That's what I enjoy about AvE's videos. This fellow Canuck rips into the tools before trying them, examines the construction and fact checks manufacturer's performance claims.

To give people yet something else to ***** about? :dunno:

Some of them seem to have a fair amount of views somebody must be watching them.

The best thing to do would be avoid watching any YouTube video with “unboxing” in the title
