Does anyone know the depth of the 56" tool vault or montezuma drawers? I keep hearing great things about these 2 but I'm just not sure 20" is deep enough but who knows maybe they use space more efficiently than others. I've been back & forth about the hf 72". It's a little more than I need & I know people say it's better when filled but the real thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is the play in the drawers.

I have the ToolVault 56" I bought after going to HF with cash to get a box and leaving after finding how junky they are. The actual, usable depth of the drawers, on mine, front-to-back, is 17.25". The ToolVault is no SnapOn, but it is really nice and I am very pleased with it. There is some side-to-side play in the drawers, but nothing as bad as the HF boxes I looked at. I have a buddy with a big SnapOn box, and his drawers are definitely a bit more solid-feeling than mine. But he paid about $4000 more.... I'd suggest you see one in person if possible to make up your mind.

That's my concern-not seeing one in person. If they were 24" deep I'd buy one for sure but the depth is half of what I'm looking for in a new box. The one I have now is 16ish & that really limits how I can store tools. Guess it's back to checking craigslist or finally talking myself into the hf

The dimensions is on the website. On a 24" unit you get almost 21" but you also need to account for the fold on the front. So actual is a bit less, the HF is even less.

I would recommend you get a 30" deep if space allows. However in a residential garage in suburbia with a mid sized car, there may not be enough room to slide the drawer open much.

I bought the 72" Tool Vault box after looking at Husky and HF boxes...this is much nicer. I really wanted the 30" depth, but where the box had to go I only had room for a 24". It's definitely no Snap-on and I'm ok with that for the price difference. Coming from a 26" wide Craftsman box it's a huge improvement.

I'm in the same boat as far as 30 deep goes. One guy at my shop with a similar place for his box has a krl7022 & it's hard to pull bigger trucks into that bay because it sticks out. My spot used to be occupied by a 24 & no issues so that's about all I'd want. I am up in the air with how much space I need. Now that I think about it a 56x20 would be pretty full & my reason for upgrading is so I can have a work surface. I'd probably be better off going to a 72.

Even when I don't get the answer I'm hoping for posting on here always helps me think out decisions.
