Tool vest or tool belt, your thoughts?

So I have been thinking about getting something to keep my tools on me and somewhat organized when doing repairs around the house or just when I am in the garage working on projects. I have had cheap tool belts but they are clunky or ride down. Maybe spending more on a good tool belt with suspenders or a tool vest is what I need. Let me know what you would recommend. Thanks for your input.

I bought some decent tool belts last summer for workin on the barn roof. They are much better when you spend a little extra on them.

I find that the pockets and hammer loop on my overalls carry enough tools to do most any small job.

I usually use a bucket. I have a decent (for me) simple clc belt somewhere. If you're ever at height (on a ladder or a roof) you don't want to be reaching around in a belt to find the right tool...at least I don't. Might work for what you're doing but weight on your person can wear you down when you're working.

If I am doing a job that requires several tools, I will probably wear a tool belt. If I am doing something that only requires minimal tools, then I wear an apron.

Keep in mind that a loaded down tool belt is apt to bump into furniture and scratch up finished walls.

If you're just going to do odds and ends around the house every once in a while, don't waste your money on Occidental. They make awesome rigs but are pretty damn expensive. Leather Craftsman bags are good enough and will last a long time if you take care of them.

I'm another one in the never really liked tool belts camp. I find them heavy, bulky, and more often than not, awkward and uncomfortable to work in. Instead I picked up a couple of soft sided Husky tool bags in a couple sizes from Home Depot. I load one up with the tools I need for the task at hand and take that to the project site in the house. It's just far more convenient. Bought the different sizes so I'm not tempted to overload with tools I don't need.

I only wear mine if I'm doing the same task over and over all day that requires me to have the same tools on all day, and if I'm going to be moving around all day long and not wanting to lug around my tool bag, plus material and ladders. I never wear it on service calls in finished houses or places of business, either.

I have a toolbelt, I only ever really use it if I'm either up a ladder, on a roof or very remote working outside. I have a toolbag or use the old standby of a plastic bucket! I really want a toolbelt with braces (You call em suspenders but over here thats what ladies use to keep their stockings up!) as they always seem to fall down when loaded up. Mine also gas a holster for my cordless drill on it.

Working on a ladder or scaffolding, wiring where you move around a lot, actual framing or other construction, fencing where you get further away from where you started or anything like those, I wear a tool belt. You lose too many steps going back to where you put the tape measure or hammer or pliers down. When you find yourself looking for a tool or walking to get it, you are wasting time. Sometimes I'd pay $10 to be able to get to the hammer I left on the other side of the room after I've been on my knees for 10 minutes. Snap, Crackle, Pop, @#$%^! is what it takes to get me up off the floor anymore.

Minor electrical, I wear a pouch that holds a couple of pliers and a few screwdrivers.

Just working in the garage I think I'd just have the tools on a cart or bench.

I have different tool belts for different jobs.
All for on site construction type work not in a shop.
One for elect. one for carpentry, etc.
The carpentry one is mostly for the nail pockets.
I find I where them over my shoulder instead of on my waist.
Often hanging it somewhere close.
I use a pail a lot.
Not just 5 gal but 2 and 3 gal are handy for throwing in what is needed for a quick fix somewhere.
