Tool Windfall - An ongoing Saga

So, I got a call this morning from a fellow sports bar hanger outer. He snagged a job cleaning up a friends newly purchased property. He said "Hey, do you want tools?" I didn't know how to respond :headscrat

He's cleaning out a 12x16' shed now, these are from the first 2 ft. All free (well, I did buy him a drink :bounce: He has the rest of that shed, a barn, and a double deep 3 car garage........all, according to him, "hoarder packed" with tools. The new owner told him to take whatever he wants, he wants it cleaned out. I'm getting all tools for free. So, this will be an ongoing saga for the next month or so as he gets the buildings looted. Of course, his tab is on me for the foreseeable future! :beer:

So far, everything works!

1. Nice big Cman carry box;
2. Bosch and Skil Rotary Demo tools;
3. DP pneumatic sander & Binks spraygun;
4. Crowntop Cman Radial Arm Saw.

I'll update this thread as he brings me the loads. Apparently, the former owner ran his own sprinkler business out of the buildings, with 7 trucks so hopefully there's a bunch of hand tools as well!

Your space and luck seems endless :bowdown:

Space? Not so much. I just wish he'd let me come over and pick through everything. The owner is somewhat of a stickler I'm told....."I hired you to do the job, and only want to see you here." I guess I'm fine with it except I LOVE to dig!

Is this the fate of all of us?
Eventually, near the end, we just pick up and blow town,
and leave the tools to be someone else's headache?

I have a database of all my tools/boxes that has what I paid and when. It also has values but those are harder to keep up with. Hopefully, that'll help whomever has to deal with all my ****......

twertsy yes a "YOU ****" but rather with all your good luck, might I suggest that you give away a few tools to some young kids just starting out.

I do it all the time with all the extra tools I come across and a funny thing happened this week when one of the kids an 18 year old boy told me he was so lucky that he could now work on his car...made my day!!!:3gears:

Perhaps a young person into woodworking might love your RAS or someone wanting to touch up something with the sander or paint sprayer.

Well just a thought anyways.:beer:

I do that all the time Woody. Some folks on here have taken hauls from my shop actually. Also, see the seemingly now defunct PIF thread.

Should be getting another load today or tomorrow I think. Gotta share: he just texted me that there's an old camper that needs restored; I answered: "Is it full of tools?":lol_hitti

If it is an old fiberglass egg camper (Scamp, Boler, etc) and a title can be found I will come out there to take a look. I've been looking for one for a project.

I see Twertsys situation and can sympathize! I too often get that call from a friend with a friend who's In-laws have a "One man's junk" situation.

Many of our finds are 10% treasure and 90% trash, but you must deal with all of it.
I have a problem with acquiring faster than I dispose of stuff.

I have had some treasure troves and some that I should have walked away from, but the hunt is always a blast.

I put myself on a diet from buying stuff until I get rid of a lot of my stuff. Been doing good, but I still backslide. Bought a guy out of his Ford inventory just last week. Only 4 cars but I did get a bunch of socket out of the back of a 1964 Ranchero!

"Snakes!, Why are there always SNAKES!!"

Twertsy, congrats on the score!!

I would say its not just luck, Twertsy spends a lot of time chasing tools and when you get out and about, folks get to know who to call.

And then there is karma. Twertsy sows a lot of good karma so it is only fitting that he reap some of the benefits.
