Ok, I started a thread the other day asking opinions on a smaller box, to make a long story short, I decided against that. My 56" Masterforce, full enough with tools, weighs 907 pounds on the scale at work. I figure the steel frame I made weighs about 75 pounds, the box weighs about 350 with the kennedy and wood top on it, the rest is tools. No drawers are overweight, but some are close to their limits, box is great, but can be a pain to push. 907lbs doent sound like much, as most 72 inchers weigh that empty, but most of you auto guys are pushing your box across a small shop, not really a the same environment as me...try a 300,000 square foot building. I think a 56in box is considered big anyway in an industrial plant, due to the fact that we are moving all day long for the most part, I certainly wouldnt want anything bigger than I have. Yesterday, I positioned my stock 5" casters differently on my frame, I put all the swivel casters on the outsides and the stationary casters in the middle of the frame (I have 6 5in casters btw). After over a year of pushing this box around, I am very impressed by how these caster have held up, they still roll fine, but I wouldnt mind something better. Im looking for 4 swivel casters, and 2 stationary, Id say id want to keep it under $300. My caster frame is 4inx4.5in and bolt hole spacing is 3inx3.5in. I do not like pneumatic casters. Im thinking a wheel between 6-8in would work well. What can you recommend me?

Colson Performa. Rolls smooth and won't shake your tools up.

Don't know if you'll find anything at http://www.greatlakescaster.com/ or not.
I found out about this place from www.sawmillgreek.org . Several people were buy leveling casters for their wood working machines that they move on occasion (not that that pertains to your wheel issue).

As of right now, it looks like they don't have any pics or prices on wheels but have descriptions.

Appreciate the responses folks. I will look into colson. I have Albion on my home box (old work box). They supported a large glue spreader, 48" and were too worn out for use on the machine anymore, so they went on my box, absolute tanks, super quality, but I could not afford a brand new set for my 56.

Yea, colson makes good casters, a bit pricy, but very good casters.

from that link: "Maximum load/caster: 99 lb" that's less than half what his box weighs. Gonna need a little more beef than that ;)

Eh, it depends on how much you trust the built in safety factor. Technically it should suppot up to a 396lbs box, assuming 4 casters, one on each corner. If the OP wanted to use 10 of those, technically it would work. However 2" dia wheels, sounds pretty small for a tool box.

+1 on Colson. great product. Usually I like to see the individual caster ratings >= 0.5X of the total weight on the 4 casters. In general bigger casters is better. I am a fan of colson 6x2" casters or larger.
