Toolbox Declutter Day

If you've ever bought out an old retired guys toolbox, you know how hard it is to go through it, sort it, clean it, and figure out what to do with the stuff? Well, I decluttered 5 drawers of my own toolbox today. Here is a picture of the excess, plus there's a full box of Plomb stuff not in the pictures. 90% of this is either Proto or Snap-on, not junk.

I went through and took out duplicates and extras, trying to get back to an accessible, comprehensive working setup. I think I'll like using it a lot more. Now, there'll be a lot of work getting rid of the discards! Plus, still have the rests of the drawers to go through. Maybe 1/2 done at this point, hopefully the rest of the drawers aren't as bad. 10 drawers left to go.

I work with a couple folks who could expand their collection of tools tenfold.

Time to start a display case of the old stuff too.

I dump and sort my work tote about every two weeks and find a pile of odd bits. I can't even remember half of what is in the storage box or the antiques collection.

This after selling off 4/5 of the stuff I once had. It piles up fast and just this morn another screwdriver came home.....

I have a drawer in tool cabinet just for clutter/extras. Unfortunately most of it is SAE so chance of ever needing them unlikely

I keep my 'extras' in rectangular steel cake pans, works waay better than cardboard.

That looks like what some guys on here say they carry in their road box.

I store my extras in plastic shoe boxes from the dollar store, sorted by manufacturer.

Tool box drawers stay pretty much uncluttered that way
