Toolbox dimensions??

Okay so I am going to buy a new toolbox within the next year and I am pretty much set on a tool vault 56" combo box from strictly toolboxes. It seems to fit my needs and price range. The only thing I'm worried about is the dimensions of the drawers. I'm used to working out of a snapon box with like 20 something inch deep drawers. This new box has 17 inch deep drawers! I'm afraid I might not like this and it won't fit tools how I like. Does anyone else have shorter drawers similar to this or this exact box?? If so can you give some feedback on it?? Is it fit most tools fine and enough tools or is it worth finding a different box with deeper drawers?

I'm sure I am not alone in saying to buy a box with a deeper footprint whenever you can. Having deeper 24" or 30" drawers is a HUGE advantage over 18" or 20" drawers. I don't have that box so I don't speak with firsthand experience directly, but I do own a 30" deep KR1001 that replaced my shallow 16" (if I remember correctly) craftsman cabinet and it is a night and day difference.

If it were me, I'd save up a bit longer and buy a box, no matter what brand, with the deepest footprint you can fit. You'll spend the money and cry once and will not likely regret it after it's said and done. The extra drawer real estate will be well worth it in the long run.

I personally would look for a "good" deal on a used Snap On, hell you will get almost the same storage from a KRL7022 lower as you will get having both the lower and upper you listed, I don't know if I could ever give up my deep drawers on a Snap On

The short depth drawers on the HF 44" cabinet are the single reason I haven't bought one yet. I agree. I like the deeper drawers.

These comments are scaring me I really had my heart set on this box and love love love the drawer layout! I just wish it was 30 inches deep.

Save up some more money...

At 17 inch deep drawers, you'll end up having all your tools stored sideways.

I agree w/ the other posts, atleast 20"-24" drawers is the way to go. Plus the more room you have the more you'll want to fill it.

A box with deeper drawers will have so much more room, you won't believe it. I went from a 24" drawer S/O box to a 30" Epiq and had way more capacity.

Also deeper drawers will give your box way more stability even when the drawers are open.I always worried about tip over when I had 18" deep C/man boxes.

Look for a used Snap On box, you'll be glad you did.

i have the 3pc tool vault 56" combo for a house box. i got new for a crazy low price i couldnt say no to. cheaper then anything at HF is all ill say lol brand new right from stricly shipped to my front door.

its been a good box to me so far. had it about 2 years. if i was looking for something to use in a professional environment id go with something deeper like others have said.
