What suggestions does anyone have for drawer dividers? I used the Craftsman aluminum dividers in my work box, but was thinking there may be an alternative product for this. I looked at some 1 1/4"x1/4" wood trim strips @ Home Depot, but wondered if there's a better material available.

I don't use any dividers in my box but when it came time to use one of the small drawers for silicone, JB Weld, glue, thread sealer and so on I used an old chocolate box lid just in case anything leaked out

My Lista cabinets have several schemes to organize things, some of which I've shown before.

Here is another way I have lots of small things (in this case, one of my hardware drawers) organized.

I bought these boxes from a guy on eBay who makes them in his plastics fab shop to fit Lista drawers.

Every thing needs an optimum storage scheme. Some use tool foam, some will use these boxes and some will use other, custom solutions.

I bought some aluminum stock from Home Depot and used my angle grinder to cut it to specs and notch them to hold the cross pieces. I used a rubber grommet I also notched out to hold the dividers in place.

I think I want to do something like this again. How are you using the grommets to hold them in place?

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I cut a groove in the rubber grommet to hold the divider, then cut the divider just a bit shorter than the drawer length. When you install the divider the rubber gommmet compresses and holds the divider in place. I only used the rubber grommet on one side and it works fine. I used a rubber foot grommet for chairs/tables also from Home Depot, they come 4 in a pack.

I used a couple of different systems in my box.
Snap-On has plastic dividers that have an adhesive strip on the bottom edge-cut to length, peel the strip off the adhesive and put it in place. They are red and have held up well.
Craftsman has foam wrench racks/dividers that I used to divide and hold screwdrivers-again,cut to length, peel and place. I've had these in place for a couple of years with no problems in daily use.
I found some drawer organizers at a $.99 store that are clear plastic bins that lock together. They're too tall for shallow drawers, but work well in the 4" drawer for die grinders and accessories.

I'd like to revive this thread.................

Setting up drawers in my KRL1022 Snap-On roller.

Picked up some inexpensive white plastic (only color available?) STERILITE brand
drawer organizer trays (12"x5"x2"Deep and another size more square) at Fred Meyer (Krogers)

I didnt want to go through the work of building (above) aluminum dividers, etc

For the wrench's I use the most I bought a pair of these,

For my other wrench's smaller sets and odd ball's I have these so that I can cut them down.

Other then that I use some common organizers from staples or Sears for pens, fittings rivet's etc. Anything bigger finds a bolt box. My sockets are on the metal rails with handles so when I need to run out i can grab a set and a ratchet to go. My screwdrivers stay in the plastic case they came when till they break, then they lay on the drawer. I tried the screw driver holders (plastic one's) and did not care for them.

The above STERILITE trays at 2" Deep wont work in shallower KRL drawers. I may (or may NOT) try to use them in back of some deeper drawers to keeps "stuff" but will have to decide later.

STILL looking for shallower long/narrow misc plastic trays for files, putty knives, loose allen wrenches etc etc..............

Please report in with brand names, store names, web sites etc etc

Thanks,

These are free...... take a good look at stuff you throw out everyday.

Look at Roy Moungovan's book (From 1988) titled "Shop Savvy" for other good ideas.

for drawer organizers, go to walmart, bed bath and beyond, ikea, etc type store and look in the kitchen organizer section. you'll find several different types of bins from large to small for all the tools, etc. there's plastic molds, wood bins, wire bins for anything.

KRL Snap On (most of) drawers are 1 3/4" Deep.

Still looking for individual "trays" or "bins' (or whatever you need to call them)
that are have shallow enough sides to fit.

Need one or more 15" long by ?? wide to hold files.

Dont want to install ERNST system. Want ease and flexability of moving trays around as needed, where needed.

These Cheap STERILITE Drawer Dividers might be ok in deeper drawers, but (again) wont fit 1 3/4" drawers.

I've not been to WALMART, TARGET, yet. Anybody?????????????????

Dollar stores?

If you can't find them shallow enough, it's time customize it. Solder knife, dremel, hand saw, etc.

If not, fabricate your own to your likings.

Would it happen to be this guy http://stores.shop.ebay.com/R-Schaller-Equipment-and-Inventory__W0QQ_armrsZ1 If so, he looks like he has quite an array of different size containers. I use the same thing at work only mine is Lista brand. Very nice for organizing different things. I may have to get in touch with him to get some varied sizes for home.

I bought 20 of SCHALLER Corp's 3.5"x5"x1"(Deep) Plastic Bins/Boxes

Light/Med Gray in Color you can place a series together in whatever pattern youd like.

These will fit in the shallow KRL and KRA drawers

Great if you use a drawers for fasteners, elec fittings, whatever small

I wanted/needed something longer than 5"..........

Anyway these are new in shipping box.........I paid .60each x 20 = $12.00 plus $10 ship

Looking for $10.00 plus Flat Rate Post Office or FedEx Ground (which I believe might be less)

I used the Sears brand foam wrench racks as dividers in a few drawers, they are long enough for the deep Lista drawers ans stay in place pretty well.

I bought one of his assortments, went back and ordered a second round to get some specific sizes. In addition to organizing nuts and bolts I used them for sealants, lubes, and all kinds of small things that one has trouble keeping track off.

My buddy at work has a Kennedy box and has some REALLY nice black molded plastic drawer organizers that look great! Problem is he bought the box used and they came with it so he has no idea where they came from. The plastic is kinda bumpy/slightly dimpled. Has anyone ever seen drawer organizers like this??
