Toolbox drawer fix

Needing a reasonably priced toolbox and having not a lot of floor space, I followed GJ recommendations and got the HF 26" cabinet combo. Of course I had to send it back twice to get one that wasn't twisted. Third time was the charm and everything was more or less perfect, until I found that the bottom drawer wouldn't stay closed. Especially after loading it with bottom drawer stuff.

Eventually I thought to try magnets. I had a few 3/8 x 3/8" rare earth cylinder magnets left over from a previous project. Placing four in the spots facing the ridges in the middle held it closed. I added another four and now it closes itself from about half an inch away!

This being HF gear I'm sure the other slides will wear out eventually. If I had to buy hardware for it a 1/2" magnet would probably be a better size.

Yeah, it's got about 30 lbs of stuff in it. It used to open by itself and now stays shut when I shake the cabinet around. 1/2" long magnets would hold it even better.

To properly fix it on any toolbox...look at the back part of the slide...there should be two little pieces that you can bend to adjust how hard it is to open the drawer...all slide sets have them.

This slide is a 200lbs set...and it is the middle two ears adjacent to the rubber stop. Look at your particular set up and you will see some form of tab or similar to bend slightly to pinch on the rubber or plastic stop. Tinker with those until you get the desired resistance ...
