I just got a new toolbox and I'm going to try and improve on my organization. Any suggestion on a good drawer mat/liner? I want something more rubber than foam. I hate The foam I have in my old box. Thanks!

Yoga mats work great.

Cheap too, I bet.

I used to work as a machinist for a printing company. When certain types of paper would come in on pallets, there were these 4'x4'x1/8" sheets of some rubber composite that, I assume, would be to minimize load shifting. The material handlers would just throw them away. I would take some home, and use them to pad my workbenches and line my toolbox drawers. Great stuff!

Wish I could find that stuff again! Best drawer liner I ever used. You could cut it to size, lay in in the drawer, and open and slam drawers all day long without it shifting.

The Harbor freight stuff is nice if you only need 18/wide....home depot has some 22 wide stuff for only 9 bucks a roll

The best stuff I found was at Rural King. It is sold by the foot and is 4' wide. It is a black rubbery mat almost like rubbery cork material. May be a little thick and you might lose tool space if you have very shallow drawers but the stuff does not move.

The store 5 Below has yoga mats for $5. They're roughly 2'x 6' and come in many colors. I have them in my box drawers and also on the floor in my garage in front of the workbenches.

Rubbermaid shelf liner works excellent and is thin:

As a machinist, I hate that stuff. I used it in my toolboxes, and when I laid my precision tools on it, the liner ended up staining my tools that were on it. That's why I went with the I/O carpet instead

There is available a closed cell thin rubber material that is durable and works well in tool box drawers, and is not too soft like open cell foam. The most durable and cheap I've found was the vinyl floor coverings that are sold at places that do kitchens or bathrooms, perhaps Home Depot.

Go to the kitchen department at the local Wally's
It will have shelf liner in multiple colors and thickness.

Go to Lowes and buy the 36" wide ribbed black rubber floor runner that is sold by the foot. I just used it for a top mat and drawer liner on a 1966 RemLine box I just restored. It's sturdy, thin, and won't move once it's in a drawer. It ran me $2.25 a foot and it cheaper than those flimsy rolls of foam "toolbox liner".

Ignore the sloppy tool arrangement. This is my "overflow" box:

Menards used to sell this smooth rubbery super grippy liner. Not idea if they still do. I spent over $100 redoing a large box with it and loved that stuff until I sold the box a couple years later.

I use the Rubbermaid shelf liner, then blue yoga mat over that. In Aviation we're required to shadow our tools for accountability. You can google tool shadowing, to give you can idea

I found someone selling offcuts of dog grooming mats on ebay, got enough to line new my Hazet assistent.
My old Britool box i lined with cardboard, it was cheap and i made it so it covered the sides of the draws too. Every now and then i would give it a spray with wd40 or similar to help stop my tools rusting (i work a lot in dairies on farms).

I went to a shop that sells magnetic car signs and I bought a sign that did not say anything. I used that in my air tool drawer since my air tools occasionally leak oil. The oil gets absorbed by the normal tool box liner, however, I can wipe it off of the magnetic car sign liner.

In my area there are always free treadmills on CL. One quick cut and you have enough rubber belt for several drawers.

My favorites are vinyl runner or thin cardboard like cereal boxes, if space is an issue.

Goodwill has used Yoga mats regularly for cheap. I use them for drawer liners and for whenever I need to keep something from getting scratched I'm working on... basically a workbench cover/pad.

Sometimes they smell purddy.:headscrat

In my town people leave treadmills on the sidewalk on garbage day. A quick slice with my pocket knife and I've got enough free material for at least 4or5 drawers
