I've tried a few different ways of organizing my drawers this year, but no matter how neat I can get the larger tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches) together, the small tools (punches, cold chisels, picks, etc) still end up piled up on top of each other.

I've found Schaller Corp.'s 1" deep bins to be absolutely superb. They're available on ebay and an online shop, and for a bit cheaper than many of the other accessories and drawer organizers I tried before this.

I have quite a few 2" deep bins around as well - the 3" x 3" are particularly useful for parts storage.

You really need to hang out with women who scrap-book, knit, or do any type of hobby that involves small tools or specific function apparatus.

Srsly. Between Bed, Bath and Beyond, Sears, Lowes, Dollar Store, Organized Living, HF(some of the time), HQ, Target and every other general or niche store out there, they know where to find the organizing bin u need.

Trust me.

BTW, they also peruse ur Auto Geek, Griots Garage, and any other catalog that comes to ur house for ideas as well.

Tool box to fishing box to xmas tub, they know where to dind it 90% of the time.

BTW--I keep a print Grainger and McMaster-Carr catalog on my home desk and they are fair game as well.

I have an array of organizers and compartments from Target, industrial suppliers, Sears, etc, and I've found that many of these offerings are generally too large, too expensive, or with too few size options.

No need for multiple catalogs, store trips, or searching for a solution. I use just about everything Ernst Mfg. makes, and it all works perfectly.

I have the 40 wrench organizer, 20 screwdriver organizer, drawer dividers, and drop in trays. If you need it to organize your box, they make it.

Summit sells Ernst stuff for about the cheapest I have found online btw.

I thought about ernst's tray organizers as well, but ultimately didn't think that they offered enough customizability for my needs. I still plan to order a few when I need other items from Summitt, but for the time being it doesn't make sense to spent $6+ shipping on a <$20 order.

I upgraded from two of these: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00965296000P

Justin, Just placed an Ernst order looks like a well thought out system of Organizers. Thanks for the info on it.

Those dividers look good as well.

I've dedicated small boxes for tap & wire gauge drill storage as well. Currently a few sizes are bundled together in large Akro-Mils style bins, but it's hard to sort through.

The only problem is that I only have one shallow drawer - most are 2" are up to 3-1/2" deep, so space is wasted on smaller tools.

You're welcome, glad you love them!

For components I use larger self-contained organizers with even shallower bins. I might use some of the smaller ones for components and will see how it goes. Thanks for the suggestion!

For inexpensive storage of electronics and other small supplies, I like Flambeau compartmented boxes. Their Mighty-Tuff are durable and have good clarity (easy to see what's inside w/o opening).

Their IDS boxes are nifty if you need several (they fit into their IDS 'cabinet').

I have four Lista boxes full of the 2" tall Schaller boxes but I just got some of the 1" tall ones as filler in an order of taller boxes. I like them so well I just ordered a few hundred 1" boxes too.

I pop into the goodwill once a week, just for kicks. I always leave with 1 or 2 organizing boxes or whatnot, never over 2 bucks a piece. If I don't use them I put them in the attic until the need arises.
