Toolbox Drawer/Slide Removal

Good Morning All,

How does one go about the removal of the Toolbox Drawer/Slides for this freshly acquired Craftsman Combo?



I need to straighten, clean and reattach some of the drawers and slides (possibly repaint too).

I believe there are little prongs that stick out the side of the drawer. They catch on the slide when fully extended. You just open the drawer till the prong hits the slide, then close the drawer just enough to be able to pry the prong in. A small screwdriver should do the job. You can push th eprong back out before you re install the drawer.

There are also a type of clip on some Craftsman drawers, those will be obvious if you have them. You just pry them up from the rear, and pull them forward. They kind of look like a thick hair pin. I don't think you have them, but you might.

You may want to tighten up the rail your slide ride in also. I just use a pair of channel locks to squeeze the rail down on the slide. Don't over do it, just enough so the rail doesn't have a lot of up and down play.

Some times you may need to remove and straighten the slide if it has been over loaded and bent.

No problem. I highly recomend tightening the rails that the slides ride in. When the drawers are over loaded they tend to cause the drawer to sag when open, that makes them not slide too well.
