Toolbox I can ship

I am looking for a small handheld toolbox that can withstand the trials of UPS. Ramping up a deployment at work and some places I will not be driving. Those locations require me to either check the toolbox or UPS it to the location.

I know Pelican, and I own one myself, but I am looking for other options. Hoping to find a cheaper option that will work just fine. Any tips?

Maybe something like a suitcase?

I don't think anything cheaper will live up to a Pelican. I used haul 6 cases all over the place. UPS, checked baggage and the back of a truck for tens of thousands of miles. If I had to do it again tomorrow, Pelican cases would be among the first things I'd buy.

I have seen the military surplus snap on version of the pelican case toolboxes with drawers on eBay and they don't seem to go for very much as they don't fit what most people do.
They are also on the websites that do military surplus auctions

I've seen Armstrong military cases (and sets) there as well.

Cheap alternative to pelican is seahorse cases, very similar. But I have to say pelican is the best choice. Calzone are great till they get dropped or stabbed with a forklift.

I discovered Pelican when I was looking to solve that very problem. Other than cost I dont know what you'd want different. When I showed the bean counters what the cost of my tools not getting to the client when I do would be there was no issue with getting it approved.

What kind of tools?
How heavy?
I flew next to a guy that used one of those swing lid plastic lunch boxes.
He did heavy equipment pre buy inspections.
A set of 1/2 sockets, some open ends, some meters.
He had the weight down cold since he checked it as baggage.

Awesome suggestions guys. Well I thought I was purchasing but boss went out and bought two of these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005HNJQAU/?tag=atomicindus08-20 before I could come back with some alternatives.

I asked what we were carting them with, he said my hands. Not excited to lug it around airports but not much else I can do. Once one breaks though, I will be putting in a req for a Pelican.

For tools, it will be basic hand tools, single battery powered drill, and materials. Scope of the project is replacing network hardware so nothing too fancy required.

That replacment stuff had to get delivered some how.
I would talk to the vendor about shipping the install tools as part of the equipment shipment.
Then all you have to worry about is the return trip.
