I believe I read somewhere awhile ago that there is a decent toolbox liner selling on ebay that is in similar quality and material as Snap-on liners? If so, which item is it? Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about it, haven't used it.

I use the squishy bump stuff from Lowes. The regular "shelf liner" style is less expensive than the "corrosion resistant" style sold in the tool section.

I've felt, but not bought, the HarbFreight version. Feels exactly the same.

I have it too and I stopped looking after getting it. I must have been through a dozen liners before I was satisfied.

Please know a few things about this liner before you order it though.

1.) It feels thin and fragile. It is thin but it's very tough. It almost feels cheap because of the thinness but that's actually a plus because it's really almost indestructible.

2.) It is TACKY!! Tools will absolutely stick to it. There is no sliding things around if you want to adjust location. You must pop the tool off the liner and then set it back down again. I've never come across a liner that even approaches this stuff for stickiness. You can slam your drawers and no budging of anything will happen.

3.) Tools will leave an indention in the liner but it goes away after a couple of days. That surprised me at first but I was happy to see it does go away.

Other than that, go for it. Good stuff!!

Thanks for the link! You mentioned that this stuff is tacky ... would that be a problem for heavy tools like ball peen hammers? I have a Craftsman #965499 "non-slip" liners that works ok but the material is thin and tools do slide around some but not too terrible. My hammers stick to them like crazy ... so annoying!! :willy_nil This liner does look similar to the one in the link but so does most of the liners out there :)

Anyway, here's a few photos of my existing liners :dunno:

does the stuff from the ebay seller leave any marks on the tools? i have some of the open weave stuff from lowe's and it manages to leave marks on the tools. they do come off with some elbow grease, but it's a strange kind of problem.

Buying the liner from Lumpy's link I have never seen a single mark of any type on my tools from the material. But I can't recall ever seeing a mark on any tool from any liner I've ever used.

I buy the $4.99-a-roll stuff from Northern Tool. Its made in the USA and does the job! Why would I pay $14.99 for a roll just because it has the Craftsman name on it? (And is made in China!).

I bought the purple stuff that he sells and one of my customers saw it and said it looked just like the Yoga mats she used to sell.... looking at the rest of the stuff on his site, she's right. But i like the purple but 4 rolls is nowhere near enough, i need to order at least 8 more rolls.. This is regarding Lumpy's link

Here is what you may want: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-BULK-RO...752?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5b451470 It is real rubber with 1/4inch ribbing about an 1/8 of an inch tall. Similiar to the rubber Snap on toolbox mats that sell for over a hundred bucks each. Just slightly wider spacing on the ribs. Wide rib vs fine rib.

Also look here: www.rubbercal.com This is what SO sells: http://www.rubbercal.com/Corrugated_Fine_Rib.html

This is seen in the ebay link above:
http://www.rubbercal.com/Corrugated_Wide_Rib.html

This stuff will last a lifetime....

By the way, I just saw that he has some larger rolls for a few dollars more that appears to be similar but it's hard to tell. Can anyone tell me if this one is the same as the other one he is selling?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230709190159&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123

This is the stuff I bought from that seller, but they haven't arrived yet. I am hoping that these are as good as the ones he sells that everyone here is raving about. I went with this over the other because my drawers are 25" x 25" and this was the widest liner he had. I didn't want to have to make splices in my drawers.

Hope it's good!

I just put this in my box. Havent even used tools off it yet, but I liked the way it sticks to box bottom and you dont loose any height.

Looks like the best to me.

I fixin to order the 36" to finish off my Mac and will use in others that I have.

I tried messaging him about something a couple days ago but never heard back yet. Seems like he is not good in customer service?

BHH, if you hear anything, let us know!

Thanks

I also asked him a question about the liner I was buying and how it compared to the one people love; never heard from him. he's probably busy as heck and thought my question was piddly or something. No hard feelings.

Just to clarify my post in this thread. I don't own the liner that was linked to. I own a thicker one he sells. I was only commenting on the seller having the best liners, not the one linked too.

I received my liner today. I doubt it is the same stuff as what people in here are crowing about. This is my first tool liner, ever, but based on the properties of what I received and the pics/info in this thread, I'd say they are different products. I'd love to send a scrap to someone who has the beloved liner that the eBay seller offers and have someone confirm that what I bought is different.

The Ebay listing for the liner doesn't fit my tool box. As least not the deep drawers. How can I go about this? I would love to try the Ebay liner but if it doesn't fit all my drawers, no point in getting it.

The liner I bought is 36" wide by 10' long. That won't fit your drawers?

The Ebay liner I looked at is 24''x6'. The one you bought, I didn't see. But I know the 24'' won't work at all.

Link me if you can. I still haven't gotten new drawer liners yet and everyday it bugs the **** out of me using that new Snap On liner that slips daily! Very irritating!

Nevermind, Just found out that the same Ebay seller has the 36''x10' as well.

I'm getting me 3 sets, 12 rolls total. I need an extra roll to protect the top of my Snap On Stainless Steel Top, gotta keep it scratch free!

Thanks a bunch!

Yeah, I got mine from that same seller that folks in here are talking about.

Let us know what you think of the 36" wide stuff. I still want to know if it's the same type of material as the narrower rolls he sells.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger one this last night, for my new Lista box. Three rolls isn't close to enough. I am going to see if I love this stuff enough to spring for enough to do the rest of my drawers. I still have one roll of the other stuff I bought from this seller over the summer. I like it fine, but it's not the Holy Grail that the linked item is claimed to be. The curiosity was killing me.

what were the differences between the two? I just bought the wider longer stuff but was just wondering what your opinion was since you have both offers.

It may be that the type that I and others bought awhile ago is no longer available.

This stuff from the same seller looks similar except that mine is a solid 1/8" thick versus what is now 1/16". The finish on both sides is very smooth. It is very tacky on shiny surfaces. It is solid not porous. Tools don't move at all when on this liner.

I also bought this purple colored one. It has a good sideways pic showing the thickness and the bumpy finish. It is solid, not porous. And not tacky like the black variety.

The black liner I have does not look like this one:

Bull,

If you want, I can send you a piece to compare with the stuff you got.

this is the stuff I use, its amazing. your description of the eBay liner is exactly like this liner. when I bought it there was a free shipping deal. large sockets stick to it, and it doesn't leave a mark on the tool and the impression goes away.

I bought the solid liner that HF sells and I couldn't be happier with it. It's thick, tools stick to it like glue, doesn't leave any marks on anything, and seems to be very resistant to oil. The size it comes in fit my MAC MB 7100 and 7200 like it was made for it.
