Toolbox polish/wax recommendations?

Yea, yea... for all the heck I give the tool polishers, I finally need some help with my own polishing project! I picked up an old KR series box and it needs some TLC. A quick spot check on the back seems to tell me that Simple Green diluted 1:5 will get most/all of the grime off, but I might have to mist rinse it off as well. After that, I want to get some kind of protection back onto the box. Thoughts for wax? I was thinking about using a simple polish/wax combo like Meguires with a wax topcoat, but I do have some Zaino sitting around from my old car.

Any thoughts on what to use? Things that worked/didn't work for you? Thanks guys.

I'd use a cleaner wax (polish/wax combo) then follow with a pure wax. Should give you a nice finish and a nice layer of protection.

I just polished up my 1980's Craftsman chest and cabinet combo last week. I purchased it new and have always taken good care of it, but have never polished or waxed till now. Used 3M Finesse-It II with very little effort. It removed all of the light scratches along with the fingernail marks on the drawer fronts and looks near new again. I still need to apply a coat of car wax. I'ved always used "Best of Show" wax by Griot's Garage on my cars. Love the stuff!

I use this. I just spray it on and wipe it off with a damp towel. I just get the towel wet and then spin it out in the washer machine. I spray the wax directly on the dust and wipe off. Leaves the tool box very shiny.
