who does and who doesn't?

When I was a kid all my dads friends had stickered up rollcabs and/ or toolboxes. I always liked the look it gave them, so mine is fairly plastered in various supplier/bike mag stickers, (I'll try and get a pic up when I get home). It's not something I see much of on here, has the fashion changed? Am I even more unfashionable than I thought

For those who do, lets see some pics.

My first box I covered, as I found more stickers I kept adding them.

My new box I haven't put any stickers on it, I no longer like the look.

Yes and no for me. The MAC set I bought new in 1974 when I was just starting out is all stickered up. Got them on both sides too although it dosn't show in the pic. It's been banged around in a road service truck when I worked on heavy equipment, dragged around from racetrack to racetrack when I was messing with circle track cars, and now has finally been retired to holding my weird and specialty tools, air tools that I might get around to repairing some day, etc. My Snap On box that I paid dearly for 35 years later, NO freakin way.

I hate stickers on boxes(that I buy) so I put all mine on magnetic sheets. Plus I go through boxes like shoes, I have some of like to have for awhile

Also I don't put them on the outside, it fades boxes

My experience has been the opposite. The finish on the box fades but the paint under the stickers stays nice. But as you can see from my last post, I keep my boxes for 35+ years... lol I do like the magnetic sheet idea but it's way too late for my old boxes. Where do you buy them ? It would be a good way to display the small dash plaques I get when I enter my Camaro in the car shows without sticking them directly on the dash.

I have 3 boxes, one I'm planning on keeping til it dies, that one is covered... the other two I want to get rid of (entry level CMan), so they're clean til I buy their replacements... I'll post pics later.

Dang crew, that cman box looks like it has seen better days. Probably given you many years of service?

I only like select stickers on a box, an usually on the inside only (top cover). Call me boring, but I like the plain simple look of my vintage boxes, just a maker badge and some honest wear.

I used to cut vinyl decals so my toolbox served as my "portfolio" so to speak. Now that I don't cut them anymore I've slowed down quiet a bit on the stickers/decals. However it drives me nuts if stuff is just thrown on there randomly, I always liked to keep mine straight and clean looking.

I did when I was young, put all the Hot Rod Engine parts stickers all over the box one at a time. Now that I am older I don't like stickers on anything. Maybe a small one on the truck, but nothing too much. I guess I've become a geeze?

yea the red/black one has seen much better days, i think i bought it back around '98 or '99 when we were doing some short course off road racing.
our "race shop" was a brand new 30x60 building, that our sponsor put up, he thought he thought of everything....
80g compressor, new hobart ironman 230 mig, new hobart plasma, heated floor, bathroom, fully drywalled.

no workbench, and no tools

i kept my clamps, grinders, ect in that box, banging around in the back of my truck for 10 months.
in '04 i took over as a field service mechanic at the const eq dealership i work at, the box has been in 2 different trucks, that have rolled 300k miles, and is heavily overloaded.
the bottom frame collasped, top corners cracked, and bottom drawer ripped the slides out of the inner box frame.
other than that it's in great shape
i've been looking for something to replace it (when my new truck comes in next year), but i'll probably do some more reinforcing and make it last another 10 years.
the small grey/red CM top was a $20 flea mkt find, dated 10/70
all original, unrestored, and i didnt even clean it up after i bought it.

I have been putting racing stickers on my lift, my flamables cabinet and my aluminum air tank. I am going to add them to my compressor soon.

NEVER on my toolbox.

very very few on the back window of my truck.

I don't like stickers on my boxes, so I'd say no. None for me. I don't like them on my vehicles either.

My first toolbox, a 26" Cman stack, I decked out. I plan on keeping these forever (with the exception of the top box, which I already pulled the stickers off of and sold).

All of my newer boxes haven't been ones I plan on keeping forever. Once I find the perfect one, I might put stickers on it. I haven't decided yet. I kind of prefer the clean look now.

When I was racing my box had racing stickers and contingency stickers all over it.
Still have my little one.

no stickies on anything cars, bikes or tool boxes....
just on the shop trashcan (an old Safety Clean can)

brass pull door handle riveted to the outside, wheels welded to the bottom and beer bottle opener riveted to the inside.....so you don't have to catch the cap:thumbup::thumbup:

Just kidding. I'm way too OCD to put stickers on a toolbox.

Now my tackle box, on the other hand...

Not my idea but something I picked up from another poster on this forum.
Put the stickers on magnetic sheet, then you can move them around, add or remove as you like.

My first box is covered with stickers. My KRSC46 only has 3, 2 that came with the box and a Ghostbusters logo since I am a longtime fan. I have been looking for just the right pinup sticker to put on it but cannot for the life of me find what I have in mind.

I have thought I'd cover just the 60 square feet or so of the back of my box with decals. It sits against a wall most of the time, but I was thinking I do have a ton of old work related / industrial related decals I'd like to keep. A lot of it is for stuff that is out of production or else the early logo you'd have to have been around the industry for a good while to recognize it...It'll be a good history mystery for someone to decipher when I die.....

I didn't even put the supposedly mandatory contingency decals on my race car, let alone stickers on my tool box. I somehow collect a lot of them, every couple years I hand them out to kids on autograph nights at the track. Offhand the only thing in my shop with a sticker on it is my air peg, although I have some magnets on my tool boxes.

Some good stickers here..........

I put mine on the magnetic sheets too. I have the origional finish HF 42" and I couldnt get a decal to stick to it.

If I had an actual roller cab/topbox combo, it would have stickers on it.
College has taken up financial priority for the past 5 years, so right now I can fit most of what I have in a plastic toolbox.
Here's my minifridge at school, though.
You can't see it, but there's more on the top and sides. I've had the fridge for 5 years, and obviously I didn't plan for these stickers at all :dunno:
