Toolbox Touchup Paint Techniques?

I'm starting to accumulate a fair amount of nicks in the paint from running into the toolbox with tools in my hands. While almost dropping a tool a couple of times, the over reacted panicked reflex action would send the tool careening into the tool box.

I'm assuming the touchup paint would consist of a little bottle of paint with a brush attached to the cap. What's the best technique for applying the paint?

Being in the auto body field I have a super fine brush for touch up on cars and used it when i had my yellow box. The best place is a hobby store and just get one of the finest brushes you can find. The brush in the bottle is kinda big to do a nice job. Once you have what you need just slowly layer the paint in letting it dry between coats till it is level with the surface and then rub with a fine compound and it should almost disapear.

Your welcome and good luck I hate fixing scratches but I do it a bunch, and it works same way with chips also but you can use the brush in the bottle for them if they are big enough.

...I wonder if a person could apply the clear auto bra film onto their box?

I dont see why not, I never thought about that but I know it can change the color you see just a bit. And it really is not a lot of fun to take it off later, it would help stop the fine scratches and small chips but if something big hit it it is still going to go through it. I might give it a try on my most used drawer and see what it does.
