These turned out pretty well. I think the Widget concept is a good one if he can work out the execution and pricing details. Getting one of the big tool companies to do this at scale with better materials and pricing would be interesting.

I just got a new box and I've been driving myself batty trying to figure out my wrench drawer. Stopped at three car parts places yesterday. Surfing amazon. The whole time thinking
" if I had access to a 3D printer, this would be easy"

Jonathan put a lot of effort into launching his business and I believe he's applied for a patent on the design. You'll have to buy from Jonathan or reverse engineer for yourself.

At some point in the future that will be common... Rather than purchase a product, you will purchase the plan and simply print what you need from home.

Looks good! Amazing how 20 minutes w/ a coil of wire and something to bend around can clean up a drawer that's been a mess for years. Really smart on using it for other stuff like pliers, I hadn't thought of that.

Also, a big key for me on this solution is super adaptable! It's one of the things I've learned about my shop is that it changes over the years based on what i use, what new tools I get, what new projects I take on. So, methods that are easily configurable are a huge advantage. Wire can be re-used, repositioned to fit in any way, shape or size, so pretty much can always be adapted to new situations.

Lots of other great ideas on here too, the 3D printed option, the plywood option. Just shows how a little critical thinking about a problem can go a long ways.

just a note, in shallow drawers larger wrenches usually can not to stored vertical as they are too tall to allow the drawer to close. the angle of conventional racks helps with this. just a personal experience.

These are a neat little plug'n'play solution, but I got a similar idea from other GJers that accomplishes the same thing already that is way cheaper....all it takes is a single roll of 12g solid core insulated wire and a broom handle or dowel, and it could probably organize 200 wrenches if you have 'em. I'll spend my $20 on beer.

LOL! Now that's a great idea!! Useful. Utilitarian. And most folks with a garage have 6 - 12 guage wire collecting dust from another project.

that would be my solution, fire up the 3d printer and let er rock. what did you print ?? PLA ABS or something else. PLA is my go to, easy to manage and work with.

I use one of these for my combination wrenches, and while every wrench is spooning with its neighbors, I don't have any issues picking one out with gloved hands:

I'd love something that could store my line wrenches and ratcheting sets as compactly.

While a magnetic modular wrench organizer sounds like a good idea, aside from the spacing, the other issue I'd have is with the magnets. How well do they work over a drawer liner?

I have had two in these end to end in a 26" wide Craftsman box drawer for 4 or 5 years and like them. Black one on the left is Gearwrenches. Red one on the right is regular combination wrenches. There is a little space in between for the largest ratcheting wrench that doesn't fit in the tray along with a couple of ratchets and longer extensions. Ideally metric and SAE would be separated instead of intermingled in each tray but I don't have room for that anyway.

That's an interesting tray, where did you get it?

That is a great idea Mop, I’ve done a similar thing with some of my old rubber coated suspension springs from mountain bike forks but I wasn’t able to fit as many as the wire will
