If Facebook spent 1/10th the amount of effort on scammers that they do on censoring political views that are contrary to their own, we wouldn't be talking about this right now! Facebook only cares about you providing data to them for free, so that they can sell that data to other parties. Why people willingly sign up for this platform boggles my mind!

I agree with you on FB should be spending more time looking for the scammers, but I am on FB, mostly for MP, but I have found some good deals and have sold on there as well. I have reported scammers, which have been so obvious, as someone stated, a $15000 tractor for $1000.

if there is a website involved, do a whois of the site to see who the owner is. All websites worldwide end up being registered in one way or another with InterNIC. If you ping the website in the command prompt, in this fashion, ping domainname.com -4 then the reply will come back in IPV4. You can then do a reverse lookup to see where and who the IP address is. If it comes back in Russia, China, Iran etc., you know you will probably never see your money again, and your credit card will get hit with more charges.

Here is another Scam.
Please flag.
If you go to "her" profile there are about 20 of the same cars all in different states.
I'm just pulling her chain but I wrote them and here was "her" reply

The 2010 Honda Accord EX-L is still available. It is in a good condition, no scratches, no damages, never been involved in any kind of accidents. It has a 3.5L 6 cylinder engine (great on gas), automatic transmission & only 96,708 miles. ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES at all and I have the clean title in hand. I'm selling it at this final price $1400 because my husband passed away 2 months ago (he had a heart attack) and brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it asap. I also got a new job, moved back to my hometown, and many other things have priority now, so, this car has to go. If you are interested in buying, feel free to email me.

In this area, there was a CL scam for Cummins 4bt and 6bt engines. We also had a toolbox scam. Both of these scams were followed by CL customers posting warnings.
I bought a Cummins 4bta engine. After seeing this engine run, we settled on a price of $3250. The seller's response was, "OH, not this engine, I will deliver the engine you bought, tomorrow." I offered to call the police. My son and I borrowed the seller's engine hoist and loaded the 4bta into my 2500 RAM truck, while the seller watched and protested. Once the tailgate was closed, I paid up and we left.
I get about 10 telephone and email scams calls a week. Someone with a South East Asian accent wants to help me with a problem I did not know I had. I worked with an electronics guy. His hobby is scamming the scammers. He likes to get into their systems and delete as many files as he can. He often locks the scammers computer making it unusable.

At a quick glance, appears to be the same scammers. Look at the "About us" link and you might also notice that the "Customer Service" can't be clicked on.

No fan of FB here but they can't keep track of everything unless someone alerts them. Much like the spammers that get past registration here at GJ.
Heres a humorous but true story, after seeing so many of these tool box posting on Facebook I decided to report them as spam to Facebook. I reported about 6-10 post and after the last one I was put in Facebook jail for 30 days. Why you ask, because Facebook said they were authentic members and me reporting them as spam goes against there use of terms policy.

I got a good deal on some new rims once upon a time through Craigs list, but I did not trust them so I drove 4 hours to buy them in person. It turned out good for me other than the time and money needed for the trip

There are some things that aren't sold in stores anymore so if you want to acquire them, these second hand markets are the only way to reasonably acquire them.

In my instance I use Kobalt K-rail accessories and a few of them went out of stock from the main box store years ago (like wire baskets and metal shelf brackets) so if I want to get them I have to periodically poll them and search. There is a risk, and you have to evaluate the risk and decide whether you can afford to lose the entire sum.

So it's a great option to have even if not every vendor is reliable.

Just more reason why I does become a member at Dramabook. I might surf their FBM on occasion but I prefer CL.
