Hi everybody!

Newbie here, first post...

Am looking for a toolbox at home. Have a waterloo i bought about 8 years ago and its complete junk... didn't know better, and still paid and arm and a leg for it.

Now i'm looking for a home unit. Did some research here, looked at the grey marquis.. thinking it was canadian made. in some of the threads it says the marquis is, some it isn't. When i looked at the marquis it did not have a sticker saying where it was made which made me suspicious.

Now am looking at international heavy duty series, are there any other Canadian or American boxes anyone can vouch for?

I know there are a ton of tool box threads, but it seems that the off shore production of tool boxes, like everything else.. is happening at a rapid pace.

anyone?

thanks!

Maybe it would help if you show us what you have now. To say that your Waterloo is cmplete junk is like my saying that my Dodge is slow. Dodge made Neons and Dodge made Vipers, and Vipers aren't slow.
Waterloo made many different levels of quality from very, uh, basic to quite nice.

used SNAPON for sure.....craigslist you can find them all day long.....shop around but you should get a pretty good discount from retail price buying used...I would say 30 or 40%??

the cman ball bearing grip latch boxes are very nice as long as they're not damaged in shipping

Snappy Second Hand

I bout this z28 Anniversary KRL box and the little Roll cart for less than 1/2 price. It was never used with drawer liners. Had never had a wrench in it. It was over 10K new, I got it for $4500 and the guy drove it to my house 120 miles a way and wheeled it in my garage! Off Fleabay

Didn't want the Hugger Orange at first, but now I LOVE it!

I would watch Craigslist and Fleabay. May take a while to find the deal and box you want.

you're in Canada? Definitely try Kijiji. I'm in NS and there's at least 3 nice used Snap On boxes for my area on there now. I actually just passed up a KRL722 (exact twin to my own) with stainless top loaded with diesel mechanics tools (some older Snap On, Mac, Whitworth) for $2500. It was in VERY good shape but the tools weren't - which was why I passed.

I've got the Black stripe decals that go on the top, but I'm so bad with decals, I figured I would screw them up!

I also wasn't sure I wanted them on the box.

Anybody have any suggestions for how to apply those Black Camaro stripes?

Oh, it will be over the top awesome with the stripes!:bowdown:
English isn´t my 1st language, so I´m having a little bit of a problem to explain the process of applying them. But make sure that the surface is clean, then you make sure at which end you will start, then you just go easy on and meanwhile you´re applying the stripe you´re using a non marring device to remove the air. Make sure to take it by small steps, & it will be good.

My guess is that the stripe is of the same good quality as the Snap-On logo decals, then it will go smooth.

Here's what one looks like with the stripes:

They are automotive quality Stripes.

Snap on are great but a matco, mac, napa or cornwell will also do you just fine. You could probably get one for a lot less than a sanp on. Check craigs list and keep looking a good deal will pop up. Or buy a montezuma, you get a ton of tool box for your money.

To my knowledge all Gray tool boxes (other than possibly the small hand ones) are Cdn made. To verify call Gray's 800#, they are very helpful, don't bother emailing, never get a response that way.

To answer your question I would get a Gray.

Hmm.. i like the idea of a cdn made snap on. will look into that.

@ greg 33 - was at a dealer for gray and they had a marquis series in stock, no made in canada sticker. no made in anywhere sticker. if it had that sticker i would have bought it. i would have to say its made over seas.
