A few years ago I bought some bigger "morse taper" drill bits by the pound at an estate sale. It was kind of odd, and I have never seen it again. I don't remember the price either. I do remember the other tools had specific prices.

the Junk store In Akron used to do that with drill bits and taps..

Looking back I wish I would have bought many more LBS. of bits there.. It was all US made stuff...

I may have to go check that place out looks like mostly junk from the pics.

There was a pawn shop around Memphis that closed recently that did the same thing with their sockets, wrenches, and screwdrivers. I went by there once and wasn't that impressed with what they had, but if you dug through the bins enough you could probably put together a set of sockets fairly cheap.
