Well, I got the Bosch PS-40 and the 40pc tap and die set I won from Gearwrench today! Good news, I like the tap and die set! It's nice!

Bad news, I think I got screwed on the PS-40. I bought it on ebay from locomodem.com who described it as 'new'. I opened the case, and the case was stained, the owners manual had been waterlogged, and the driver itself looked used. I decided to try it, to see what kind of power it had. I could hold it back with my weak hand with a 14mm socket on it at full power. Is this normal? My PS-20, I can't stop a 14mm socket. The motor has that funny burning electrical smell, that smells just like a abused slot car motor.

I figured I would register it with Provantage and get it warrantied w/o having to go back through the seller, but it said the date was too old, and I had to have a receipt and to call their hotline.
Did I get waste $80 on a used old, described as new, lemon?

Sounds like you got hosed. I would definitely return it. Contact the seller about the issue. If he gives you a hard time file a claim with Paypal (assuming you paid with Paypal). You have a better shot at getting your shipping charges back if you contact the seller before filing a Paypal claim. Be sure to use shipping with confirmation. UPS or FedEx Ground would be the safest. If you paid with a money order and the seller gives you a hard time file a claim with ebay.

The PS-40 puts out about 150 lb in of torque regardless of what unrealistic numbers are on the label. It is still pretty usefull as long as you have reasonable expectations. Screws and small bolts are what this is meANT for.
