I found a whole bunch of tools in moms garage getting ready for a garage sale. Just curious if I stumbled onto something great or just old tools. I haven heard of some of them but have not really been into old took collecting. Mine have always been workers and these were back in their day. Thanks for any help y'all can give. And remember I got them for free.

Here is a craftsman set with the hooked "C" in craftsman. Missing the 3/4 and 5/8 socket. But has breaker bar and 2 ratchets. One I don't think matches the set but could be wrong.

Those are some nice old tools you have. If you want to sell them may I suggest posting in the classifieds section here. I'm sure someone would snap them up.

I wouldn't say any of it is worth that much money but they are quality well made USA tools. That chrome Craftsman BE style ratchet is pretty neat. I am not sure if I have ever seen one like that before.

There is a pliers/screwdrivers guy at the local flea and he gets $2-$4 each on pliers in average condition.

I would clean them up and plasti-dip all the handles. You will have a decent set and you can pass them on to your kids one day.

Top picture (#1) jawed pliers...

I thought I was the only person who actually owned a pair

like that. I've had them for maybe 50 of my years, and they

are still one of my favorites. I reach for them quite often.

What you found are tools that you can still use with pride,

or at least keep as momentos from your ancestors.

Gas pliers. I've got a pair about ten feet from me.

yeah you got all good stuff there, as above, it's not like it's gonna make you millions but i for one would pay you maybe $30-40 for the S-K wayne 1/2" drive set and maybe $3-5 ea on the pliers. the cman stuff, i like the hand-me-downs i have OK but i'm not a huge collector of it, someone who's into cman might pay again $30-40 for that set.. the one ratchet you have that is "female drive" is a much older design than the other, that is definitely a pre-WW2, think 1920s or 1930s. the alloy artifacts site might help you straighten some of it out:

http://home.comcast.net/~alloy-artifacts/index.html

but S-K, craftsman, utica, kraeuter, danielson are all good old american names from the heyday of american industrialization; snap-on of course... nice finds! i'd be hyped if i found a pile like that laying around. your pops had good taste. if you don't mind shipping some of it send me a PM maybe we can worth something out, or if you are in SE MI, i'd definitely drive out to your garage sale, LOL.

If all you care about is money, just put them on ebay. You will get the most $ for the least amount of effort, which sounds right up your alley.

And remember I got them for free.

Maybe you know someone that will appreciate them? I'm sure you would make their day with a gift like that.

What type of applications do you use them for out of curiosity?

All this information was great!! I have been lurking around here for a whole now learning and reading a lot about garage and when I get ready to finish my 30 x 50 pole barn I will be posting pics as I go. I will post a pic of the work bench tomorrow will be at my moms it's in her garage. I will not be selling these but keeping using and just may display a few of them in my shop. I knew all you guys would know what they were. It actually makes me feel better that they are not worth a bunch because I would probably sell and give money to my mom. These I would say were from my stepdads side and oddly enough..........Bob was his name so seeing "uncle bob" at the end of one post sealed the forever deal that they will stay here till I'm gone anyway. Again thanks guys.

Hey zkling and anyone else who thinks I don't respect the tools. Here is a pic of my unfinished shop with my plane collection that I found on our old family farm. And yes they are simi displayed.

This pic is of my dads old aluminum craftsman drill that finally gave up the ghost so yep. Hung it on the wall.

Here is a wooden box my dad built in HS and I still use it. It was built in 1955 or 56 he couldn't remember.

And to top it all off here is the cheap-o top box I bought right out of HS when I was working part time at my first farm equipment dealership I worked at and as you can see I still use it

So I don't really want to sell them I keep just about every tool I have ever owned. I love tools and everything they stand for and use them constantly. So yes I used the easiest way to find out what I have and the constructive information I got was greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to set the record straight about my intentions. I kept my brother in law from actually putting them in the garage sale so they wouldn't wind up on some flea market table and split up. Now they have a home and will stay together as long as I'm around. Evidently some of them have been together for quite a long time.

Reads 180° from your original post IMHO.

What if people said those tools were worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars? Basically what I read between the two posts is that you initially thought they may be worth quite a bit of money so you considered selling them. Then found out that they aren't exactly super valuable or collectable and that persuaded your decision to keep them. :dunno: IDK that is just what I got out of it. However tone is very hard to convey in text so  Enjoy your tools. They look very nice and will provide a long service life to you.

Sounds like a 180 to me as well. I probably could have, maybe acted the same way, maybe.
