OK so this will be a photo dump of some tools and machinery from a power plant that was opened in 1926 after the original steam powered plant burnt down. If there is a interest in this then let me know and I can take some pictures.

It's kinda in operation still everything runs and works if need be. The last time we made power (other then due to storms and lines being down from Kc) was 2006. With all the advancement in tech things have became more efficient. We can pull more power from Kc with less line lose and the city of 3,500 uses less power then what it did 10 years ago.

holy ****!!! fantastic! i am an electrical engineer for our power company (state wide, millions of customers, etc), and have always wondered if there were still small time plants out there still running, and it looks like yours is!! we tore down our smallest and oldest plant in 2013, dated from the late 40s and the last 2 units there were around 200mw total. at one time is was the biggest and best plant in the system.

what is the nameplate capacity on your plant? what voltage do you connect at? prime movers? i would love pics of the generators, relay panels and substation too if you can.

i also have a facebook group called "i take pictures of power systems", i would love it if you could post some there as well!!

I'm not 100% sure on capacity but I do know we are about the only plant in the state that is able to power it's own town. (population around 3300 give or take some) I wish I knew more off hand on the numbers but I have been there for almost 8 months now only seen two of our seven genaraters run and that was only for an hr each. I do know the voltage being pushed out is 2420 because we have to manually adjust it. I hope I kinda gave you idea on our plant with out sounding to stupid.

3"-4" slugging wrench before the Hytorque was available. Tie a rope to the wrench and bring out the 20# hsmmer. Maybe the calrod heater.

This here is my genarater it is my task to keep clean an made sure it's oiled and ready to fire up. We use this one for black starts to gain power back at the plant. At one time this alone ran the whole town, now it will run our power/water plant and that's about it. Here are a few pictures of her I hope you enjoy if you want to see more of her let me know and I can take more pictures. (There are 6 more genaraters in the plant. One is a WWII submarine engine.)

That's me standing on the head and that is a size 12 boot.

The voltage coming into the plant is 4610.

Sorry I didn't get more pictures I had to go to city hall and repaint all there hall ways. I'm a city employe first and a power plant operator second. That's what the bosses tell me any how. I'll have more pictures posted tomorrow.

The water plant is in the same building can't recall when it was revamped early 90s but the original 1920s basins are still used to make our towns drinking water. There is some really old meters over there I'll get some pictures of. Even a log of wood that was a water pipe at one time.

Nice. I work in a plant that was started in 1930. Lit the boilers with a torch.

I really like this stuff. Im moving into a new job doing similar but in a slightly larger scale. Each turbine set is putting out around 800MW
