Nice price. :pimpflash
Looks like it'll situate itself well in a laboratory, too.

Does anyone know of a source for the knock-off assistents in North America? I think it'll be an awesome box to take with me on track-days.

From the flea market for € 2.- ($ 2,82) Wekador bitholder + bits
http://www.wekador.net/

hgztuj.jpg

Are there good finds at flea markets in your area? Do they hold flea markets every weekend like they do here?

Wekador is a new name for me so I had to check out their katalog. What an assortment of bits they offer; a lot more than Wera and in some bit styles that I've never seen before. 3 different coatings offered too: dlc, zrn, tin coatings.

That bit holder looks brand new to me; nice find. I think it's rare to have a circlip AND a strong magnet for bit holding, right?

Yes in the summer there are a lot of outdoor flea markets throughout the city on sundays or saturdays. There is a flea market 5 min. from where i live every saturday in the summer at the parking lot of a horse race-track which i attend whenever i can (and don`t sleep too long :D )
Sometimes there is nothing useful or the real **** with tools you wouldn`t believe you can make them like that (square drive on sockets not square, no ball retainer, cutting pliers where the blades a 1mm off etc...) But sometimes you find good stuff like old Gedore, Dowidat, Belzer tools. I`ll post some fleamarket finds later this week.

There are many companies which are not well known since their main business is to manufacture tools for other "manufacturers" or sell directly to the industrial end-user which you can see with the vast amount of different shafts not only 1/4" (6,35 mm) but also slotted and threaded etc. for the different kinds of electric and pneumatic screwdrivers for assembly lines.

Here are some more flea market finds , 5 packages of bits (2 ea.) for 3 € (4,74 CAD) a little bit more expensive but that are the double coated ones (Titanium + zirconium). Didn`t try them yet , but the fitment is good.

Yeah the bitholder is kind of strange, usually there is either a magnet or a circlip. It`s kind of hard to remove the bits, i personally prefer the regular magnetic bitholders .....but for 1,40 USD .... :D

yes !
sure !:) email: [email protected]
website: click

The dealer is in Italy.
The prices are not really that cheap.....
You also have to add the v.a.t. of 20%

But prices aren't way of either! When I bought my tool chest I was also in touch with Mike, so I know that the roller chests are at least on the same price level in the US or even slightly higher (even after the GJ rebate). Plus you have to add an unknown amount for shipping which is for sure in the 3-digit range.

cosmetics do not matter to me see my post of pictures of my boxes ( country of origins too)

But the step down on the hexes is an issue I like full length same size for the ability to if need be replace or trim down. ( ware) If I were not so picky i could get cheapo kobalt, huskey, CM, etc. It is becoming rare to fine full length swagged ( no pins or set screw) high quality 3/8 drive hexes.

who has them, that you have found. I need a set of standard and metric

So far SO and possibly Cornwell & Proto , for Euro Facom, (old) and am still tracing down potential others. My contemporaries who tool search in Europe are quite busy right now at the high of the season.

Monte, those and all the tools you've shown us make my mouth water. I would love to have every German hand tool displayed on this thread, complete with a monster Euro box of Hazets. Unfortunately, my $$$$ constaints won't allow me to do so without affecting my hobby. So, I have selectively focused on buying MB special tools to make my vintage restoration projects easier. They are not cheap either.

Yeah that`s my problem... no money for my restoration... but i thought i buy all tools which i`ll ever need now since the prices rise every year about 3-5 % so everything will be more expensive in the future, and buying tools and investing in the car at the same time will slow down both "processes". But I`m almost done, a few special tools here and there (piston ring pliers etc.) a couple of screwdrivers for the collection and thats it...(by end of the year i should be done). ....yes special tools always have a special price too :)
What do you need for tools and what do you already have ??? any Pics ???

Hey Monte, I'm gonna order those locking pliers on my next order. I think they'll work better than the regular plier types from either 3-Peaks or Engineer.

Edit: BTW, I think I remember seeing Canadian Charlie having a 3-Peaks product in his tool box...it was an oil filter wrench.

The KBS ones ? which type ? Alligator jaws or adjustable ones ? or both :)
The Alligator ones should have a good "bite" on fasteners....
Does Engineer have locking pliers ? (couldn`t find them ... Aigo has some too)

I think i try to find one of this type from the European manufacturers for a good price....i fell in love... :)

Often? No. I haven't done anything in the garage that required a repepetitive open/close, open/close task. But it did come in handy this one time; nothing else in my (small) tool collection would've done it.
Is it essential? Naw... but it's just one of those tools that I just had to have. :)

I was just thinking between the locking type you pictured versus the regular plier type like these...dinosaur jaws :bounce:

If I had I had to chose one, I think I'll make the best use of locking type, but of course, depending on the application the non-locking ones would shine.

Monte, if you ever have access to a lift; that trans jack will be a huge help! I just rebuilt a front end on a 85' Audi Coupe GT; the jack helped when I was replacing the "A" arms and putting the struts, axles, spindles back together.... once you use one, you'll wonder how you ever worked without it! :)

If anyone is interested, the mail order tool company, Lee Valley, stocks the PZ-55 screw pliers here: http://www.leevalley.com/hardware/page.aspx?c=2&p=48332&cat=3,41306,41331. Lee Valley charges $19.95 for it. I own a pair. They are very well made. Unfortunately, I have yet to really test them.

Dave

Yes, I've seen them at my local Lee Valley store as well and they're apparently equal to or cheaper than Japanese prices! They also carry IPS soft-face pliers, as well as a select number of German, French, Czech, Swiss made hand tools. Pretty cool place to kill some time. :)

19,95$ is a fair price, on the japanese website they want 2670 Yen (if its the price :D ) thats more than 28$. ...

The "Neji-Saurus" :D
The japanese have the coolest names for their tools for sure ! :)

The video is cool too :D

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0NOl67vgy9Q&color1=0x234900&color2=0x4e9e00&hl=ja&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0NOl67vgy9Q&color1=0x234900&color2=0x4e9e00&hl=ja&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

So what do we learn from the video ? It`s always good to have a small dinosaur in you toolbox ! :D
