It was suggested to me to post these up here. Here are some Vessel and Supertool items from Japan (well, the Supertool wrench is made in China, but it's a Japanese company. lol).

ramtuff,

How is the grip of the Vessel wooden handle screwdrivers?

How is the initial quality of the Supertool wrench?

How would you rate your Levelchrome shopping experience?

Thanks,

Dave

The grip on the Vessels feels great. I have yet to turn a screw with them though (just arrived today), but they feel very good, and have a nice weight to them.

The Supertool wrench is cast aluminum, so it's very light weight, and it appears to have a powder coat finish on it. Like any adjustable, there's a little play in the jaw, but it's not excessive...comparable to the play you'd find in a Craftsman.

I would definitely buy from Level Chrome again. Alan is great to deal with. Actually, an item was accidentally left out of my order (sh!t happens...I've had it happen with other, much larger, vendors before), and as soon as I let Alan know he had one boxed up and sent it overnight to me. I'll take a pic of that one when it arrives tomorrow.

bhae,

Are all Acesa hand tools made in Spain?

How does the durability and quality of Acesa pliers compare to Knipex and NWS?

How does the durability and quality of Acesa wrenches compare to Stahlwille, Hazet, and Gedore?

Is the Acesa ratchet in the set a fine or coarse tooth model?

Thanks,

Dave

Mmmmm, that bit ratchet seems very nice, chromed, with the Wurth logo in the direction selector and with an angle to use it more ergonomically, I like it.
Monte, how much have you payed for it?
And have you counted how many teeth has it got?

It has 72 teeth.
i payed 24,95€ + 19% sales tax. A bit pricey so if you don´t need the fancy design ;) and plastic handle i would recommend the Bahco bit ratchet with a smaller head and a bit + socket set for around 19,95 to 24,95€. It doesn´t have a handle, but the price is right, or look for the KS-Tools version with handle.

I've been to Felos Factory sale last week. Rather disappointing I must say.
No Ergonic or anything like that. Anyway, I found a few with hexagon bolsters as I was looking for - but with the standard handles. :(

Nice drivers !!! Didn´t know they have a factory outlet ! Nice ! Time to head to Neustadt :)

@Monte: Nice Wurth bit ratchet! Can I borrow it?:lol_hitti

No !

:D

sorry only if i can see what you are doing with the tool :)

not the new one ?

noooo ..... Don´t buy so many weapons :D

Very nice tools !! Thanks for the pics !!!!!!!!
Do all the tools say "Spain" on them ? The combination pliers look really nice ! The chisel looks cool too !! Do you also have the fine tooth ratchets with plastic handle (720R/ 720J / 720S ...) ?

Kinda lame that the cross bar and sockets don't have a complete pocket to ride in. I'd be ashamed to sell a product packaged like that. The sticker doesn't match the pockets either. Doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in the tool quality . . .

american lockpicker,

Does Alpen produce drill bits on par with Norseman?

I really can't say, I've never tried Norseman just Artu and Bosch.

How many pieces is that Alpen drill bit set?

19

Does the set go from 1 to 10mm?

Yes with half sizes.

Which types of materials will you use the Alpen drills?

Brass, Zamak, and mild steel.

Thanks,

Dave

No problem.

I don't think it's official, although it seems to be word of mouth here for years. You have to search for it, since there are no signs or anytype of promotion and it's not at the factory (or not anymore). You can pm me for details if you like.

+ some of my older Felos ...

I do not know if that makes Acesa everything you do in Spain, but if much of their tools.
I can not compare with other brands because I have not been able to compare over years of use and is not a good comparison.
The quality is good, robust tool, with a section dedicated to construction. Brand is well introduced in Spain and a brand widely used for many years, particularly its competing construction tools with "Bellota" tools.
I think it could offer a better finish and presentation but is more focused on the construction, as I said before ...

Irazola and Acesa i think it will dissapear, i think Sna Europe only will continue to Irimo and Bahco...Although I'm not sure about this.

Well... I had to do it. I cut the handle off of my 411 Stahlwille 1/4" ratchet tonight and swapped it out for a Snap On SSDP 319 #1 hard handle. I want a 3/8 now so I can do the same!!

After that I scrubbed my new to me Hazet assistent. It was purchased from the original owners daughter. It has a seat, which is a rare option.

Monte Monte:
I have chrome question. I wondering are Hazet tools hard chrome rather than nickel chrome. My understanding is the nickel gives the tool the high gloss look when chrome is applied over it and both layers are rather thin. Where hard chrome is a thicker layer that is harder than the original metal and the sheen comes from how the medal is prepped before chroming like guns are finished without a base like nickel, just chrome . If the metal is polished you get a gloss and sand blasted makes a matt sheen. I don’t see how if the nickel coating was used that the finished tool would be able to have the two tones like Hazet tools have. I think this is important as hard chrome will well outlast nickel chrome.

Here is a strange one

I needed 2 Torx 20 Wera drivers. Got 1 from local supplier, one from Amazon.com

Local supplier one came in plastic package saying "made in Czech Republic". Quite normal

Amazon.com one has a "sticker" attached saying, "Made in CZ". Still normal

Then I notice the tips are different colours. The Amazon one has a slight red tint to it.
Then notice under the "Made in CZ" sticker it says "Made in Germany" on the handle. But looks like someone tried to cover it up a bit with a black marker pen.

Otherwise they look and feel identical.

When last were Wera made in Germany ?

That a B6 S4? I've spent so much damn time working on one of those. Soon i'll be under it again putting in a new a clutch and flywheel. Maybe new cam chain guides too.

B7 (2006 right?)... have not had the pleasure doing a chain or clutch yet.... but the way this one is driven, I'm sure i'll be doing it before long... came in w/ a bit of misfire/hesitation and to remove a bunch of b/s accessories that were poorly installed by a previous owner's brother's roomate's counsin's brother in law that did automotive electrical equipment installations.:lol_hitti

Nice. Have fun doing the clutch, there's a whol load to remove (The exhaust is one-piece from the cats back, i think.) and very little space to work in. There are 3 timing chains and one ancillary drive chain, they're at the back of the engine. Not many places will take on chain guide replacement as it's usually an engine out job. I think on B6s you can (just about) do them without dropping the engine, but apparently B7s have the engine moved back an inch or two. Hopefully i'll find out soon. :)

sounds good... I already have a list of things to kick Audi engineers in the nuts over... a couple more won't hurt.

not afraid of a challenge - i honestly have not dealt w/ this series until recently...usually i'm doing h/g's on 300k m104 mb's and mid 90's volvos...

no, it's not mine.

"It's just like legos... only heavier."

Interesting. Are the 3.2 M104s worth anything? A while ago a friend got a red-top one for free (Actually, it also came with a free W124 around it.) but i don't know if it ever got sold. Do you have the special Volvo tools to pull the cam covers down where they're also the cam carriers?

Redtop? like BRABUS 3.6 redtop? i want the cams if he still has it.:willy_nil Remember, we yanks don't get half the cool sht you guys get over their... apparently the powers that be don't think we could handle the power and refinement you guys can.

i just have my 9yo. daughter stand on the cover - she's overweight for her age.

(done jacking monte's thread... sorry monte, and everyone)
