Why do Bosch power tools always look like toys to me? Is it the colors? Is it the plastics they use? I just can't put my finger on it . . .

Because they are toys :D

hi, justa wet meself seein the fotos......u must be a connoiseur or guru of sorts?.

Any thing on.....dowdat or rothenberger? I think rothenberger is the ancester to ....emerson electrics,.ridgid tools am i correct in that line of thinking?

Cheers jj

ahhhh old pics :)

yeah connoiseur, guru, tool monk... :)

Rothenberger is a different company than Emerson/Ridgid. Rothenberger is german/spanish. Similar brands/companies: Virax, Alarm, VBW, Dako

Cool !!!!! Do you have more pics like that ??

I just found some new Festol Systainer - First Aid Systainer

nice ! Finally a useful systainer :D

Got the Stubai wrenches today and they were missing the most important part the COO. :shocking: Luckily the importer will let me return them and get a refund if he can't find an Austrian marked set.

Other than that the wrenches seemed nice. The finish isn't like US tools more of a matte chrome.

Also I noticed this at 7-11. :D

interesting wrenches... laser etched or printed inscription ??

hmm zig zags ... for cigarettes or something else ?? :D

Printed I think. Also after closer examination I noticed this marking.

Picture190.jpg

Maybe it indicates a manufacturer. I know the Stubai wrench I had before looked like this.

bvnb8.jpg

Totally different...

Also the zig zags are for tobacco. I love the taste of tobacco and unfiltered cigerettes(like Camels) cost a fortune... Can you recommend me a good european pipe tobacco? Also weed is highly illegal here and could affect my ability to buy guns if caught with it. :shocking: I need to visit Holland someday to try it and buy some Beargrip tools. :)

Oh and I forgot earlier I seen a Fein multimaster new today. It was the $400 model new with all accessories for $270 at the flea market. Is it worth getting and will Fein offer any kind of warrenty if it breaks?

I've been lurking here for a while, time to put up something from the old world myself! Here's an English-made Record engineer's vice, size number 00 (their smallest). The jaws measure only 2 1/4" across, there is a small piece broken from the jaw casting, but nothing serious. The sliding jaw action is smooth and there's minimal evidence of it having been used as an anvil. Picked this up yesterday for €25 (or about $35). I might put this in my electrolysis rig before I refinish in Record blue. I've also recently bought two nice IRIMO socket sets, 1/4" and 3/8", brand new, but not sure if these are still made in Europe anymore.

Another picture. Here you can see the HAZET-guy who calibrated the torque wrenches. Example you have an torque wrench with release accuracy tolerance of ± 4%. He is calibrating your wrench near cero. So after he is repairing your wrench it is better than a new one. The guy is such ambition that he always wants the best results for your torque wrench.

Greetings from Germany/Bochum

I think the price for the Hazet 166n is too much.

The problem to deliver to your contry is not the time - the shipping cost are one of the part that make HAZET tools expansive in the USA.

However, for all questions about HAZET tools i have an answer....

Before there are any misunderstandings:

The Assistent 166N has a list price of 715 Euros plus 19% VAT inside of the European Union. The current reduced list price from Hazet is 510 Euros plus VAT. At the current exchange rate that is a little more than 710 US$, customers outside of the EU do not have to pay VAT.

Now you have to add the Ebay fee plus the paypal fee.

That is the price before shipping.

About shipping: There are several alternatives for shipping.

Sea freight is no alternative, because it takes ages to get to you and the customer has to do all the customs paperwork and the complete import procedure himself. For a private customer who has no experience with this, it is a pain.

If you use air freight, there is DHL shipping. One DHL option is the cheap route without any insurance and no useful tracking. The estimated transit time is 2-3 weeks, but in practice this has taken 6 to 8 weeks and you have no valid tracking most of the time. This is because you have a change in carriers. DHL ships it out of Germany and USPS eventually takes over the delivery in the US. That's why the tracking is not consistent.

The second DHL option (called premium air freight) is double the price, takes an estimated time of 1-2 weeks (up to 7 weeks) and costs about 250 US$. Same problems with tracking.

If you have a problem with a DHL shipment, they cannot help. I received a letter from DHL in the mail today, telling me they couldn't find a lost parcel. This parcel was late in January and was delivered eventually at the end of January. 6 weeks later it is officially still lost. Take that for service.

That's why I use UPS Expedited. Delivery time 5 work days, consistent carrier, consistent tracking, no problem with customs and full insurance.

So I believe that a price of 880 US$ including UPS Expedited 5 day shipping for a 166N is a fair price on Ebay. Outside of Ebay ask me.

Furthermore with the 166N you can get a lot more tools without any extra shipping costs (basically everything that I can fit inside the 166N). And you have access to the complete line of Hazet tools, not just what's in stock at your Hazet dealer in the US.

I would say that the prices of all the US sellers are rather high, considering that they buy a load of tools in a container and have almost no shipping costs if you break down the shipping of a complete container down to the single tools.

All the assistent trolleys are considered metal cabinets and there should be no import duties on that.

Yes, i am the sales manager of this internet-shop.

Well, my daughter just bought HAZET Smart Case for me (She lives in a small town near Bonn).

I'll be visiting Germany in April and will pick all my orders from her closet. Unfortunately, Lufthansa allows only one piece of luggage (maximum of 23kg) for flights between USA and Europe. Of course, I can borrow some space in my wife's bag but not without consequences..

How about GarageJornal discount for the next purchase?

...or maybe a date code or code for a forging die ?? Gedore has something like that too...

At the flea ?? Is it original ...??...
No invoice no warranty i guess... ??? i dunno how they handle that in the US... But the tool could be already several years old...

yeah post some pics from the TBS tools !
Honestly, if you want to buy all these tools you mentioned i wouldn´t buy them at a big box store, i would go to a professional tool store because you can get better tools at a better price if you buy all these tools at the same time (and store)

some stores in cologne for example:

Aug. Hülden GmbH + Co. KG
Weißhausstraße 7
50939 Köln

Lentz & Schmahl GmbH
Max-Planck-Str. 36
50858 Köln

Or at least check out one of these stores and a big box store.

Monte,

Thank you for a good tip!

Both places are very close to each other and not far from Bonn.

I'm curious about the big shop nearby:

hopefully one of these stores has what you are looking for !

which street is it ?

Weißhausstraße, the "right" store is marked by the yellow dot and the big one is just nearby on the same street.

I'll find it out in April anyway. There are also two big Bauhaus stores in Cologne. They are far away from each other, so I'm planning to visit at least one of them. My daughter now has a special assignment, find out which one has more tools for sale!

Excuse the crappy cell phone pics...

Thanks Jens!

And here I thought I was one of the first to order from Jens off here.

I like the new avatar, expat ;)

Couple eBay Hazet items first:

And then a box of goodies from Jens!

Odd little tool, wonder what it is?

Crown tool jewels are these:

I think we have all seen people hanging their Wihas and Weras out of screws. Well, Hazet kicks it up a notch, even with their little cheap drivers:

Nifty lil XZN bit to remove my axles:

P1010428.jpg

Guess that's all for now. I also have a couple (my first) Stahlwille and Gedore pieces, but they would have been out of place in this post ;)

both a Germany made?

yeah it looks really strong. It seems the screwdriver blade is drop forged (the blade and hex bolster are ground). The screwdrivers says "GERMANY IMP." on the handle ("GERMANY IMPort" ??) Maybe because its imported to germany or to tell the customers from abroad that the screwdriver is imported from germany to their country ?
http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/8408/hsv019.jpg

The wrench don´t say "Germany" , i think it looks like a older Bahco-Belzer or Sandvik-Belzer wrench design. Maybe made by them so i guess it´s either from Germany or Argentina.

Monte - I do have a part number. Sort of - it just says 863 bottle opener.

There is a part number on that but you wouldn't be able to order that directly. I have bought a box full of those, so if there is any need....

For every larger order I'll throw one in, otherwise just PM me.

It is basically a 863 ratchet without the ratchet mechanism. Then they mill out a part and chrome plate it.

That's what the apprentices make out of the parts that are somehow nicked a bit and can't be sold as perfect ratchets.
