In fact I'll give you these as well! Bernstein tools were mentioned by somebody right at the beginning of the thread. They do seem to be geared towards the electronic field more than anything else, so most of there tools are a little too small for my requirements - they look great though so decided to buy them. Especially like the amber colored acetate handles.

Nice locking pliers but aren't they made in the new world?

The design is from the old world :D With the release lever the right way :)

@jacko:
interesting tools ! We only had a few insulated tools in this thread until now. Do you have also insulated pliers etc. ? Please post more !

@superautobacs:
nice looking ratchet !! It looks italian :) i like the direction selector. (Here`s more info on this type of ratchet click :) )
The punches look good too. ps: why not PB swiss ? They make something similar . Is the craze over ? :)

Monte,

I think the direction lever is what catches most people's attention when they see this ratchet. It takes some effort to switch the directional lever, and I say that in a good way.
Nice, low profile head design as well. The audible 'clicks' are confidence inspiring as well...IMO anyway.

I gonna wait until PB comes out with the nano-coating on their entire lineup. :D

So can I put my USA made tools on here? :)

If the design is made in the old world , the tools are made of steel from the old world or the founder of the tool company is from the old world then yes. So basically you can post everything here :D ;) :D

@superautobacs:
surfed around a bit.... :)
Found some pics of the older styles. The ratchet with the chrome plated square drive also has a chrome "head" , the black square drive have a black "head" (so thats 1 piece i guess). Also they look glossy. On the breaker bar you can see "Italy". So maybe the glossy ones and also the ratchets with chrome square drive are also from italy ?? (because of the earlier discussion here)

The PB nano coating looks cool huh ! :drool: :D

Monte: Yes, I've got several Knipex pliers which have had good use. I'll post them tomorrow. I've also got some Facom insulated pliers which have barely been used, I'll get them up some time as well.

Here's a Unior insulated socket set which I managed to get hold of about a month back.

Monte,

Thanks for the surfin' around :D
Those pictured ones do seem to have a 'deeper' shine on them. ...but looks can be deceiving.
Interesting...."Italy" was once stamped onto the beam, but now they aren't--I wonder what the reason is? ...the handle?
Talking about this reminds me of that thread about the "USA" not being on the F80. :lol:

oed_56587_10_0_0_normal_6123910.jpg

Looks like the Unior ratchet (or vice versa :) )

@superautobacs:

Monte: Normally a conventional ratchet is taken and dipped in PVC insulation, but these newer ratchets have a specifically moulded hard plastic body instead. Unior, Gedore and Friedrich all sell these ratchets now which seem to be of identical shape and proportion. I wouldn't be surprised if there made in the same factory.

yes thats right the Friedrich looks the same. I`ll shoot them a email and ask who is the real manufacturer :)

Schraubwerkzeuge-6.jpg

The pliers look like you already used them :) any complaints yet ??

Thats difficult , I`m not that into VDE tools but i guess because of the "see-through" insulation of the ratchet that it is a "Belzer" ratchet maybe ??

Correct!! It was a real find (on ebay like everything else you've seen), no doubt not made any more and despite probably being the best part of 20 years old it had never been used. The ratchet says 'Germany' so I presume it's post reunification but I'm sure I've seen West German tools before branded as such. The only other such set I've seen was on German Ebay at the 'buy it now' price of 151 Euro's. I got this for £25.

tools036.jpg

Pictures not too great but but it says 'Belzer 8150 VDE'.

For some reason it's got two 24mm sockets, but I'm not complaining.

tools043.jpg

The obligatory Belzer screwdriver which came with the set.

tools044.jpg

The Unior set was picked up for £41. It normally retails for well over £200.

Knipex are Knipex, there's hardly ever anything to complain about.

100 points for me :D
wow that`s a beautiful insulated ratchet !! I never would use it !! :D It`s a piece of history ! Good prices too !! The Belzer screwdrivers still have a large fanbase here and considered some of the best screwdrivers ever.

@chreese: thanks for the pics and the info about the hammer !!
I really really like the blue Felo screwdriver !!! What brand is the screwdriver on the left of the blue Felo ??

reason i was asking about the hammer is that i have this "Garant" hammer (with the blue/orange handle) which is from "Osca" too. Also some "Promat" hammers look like Osca. Some "Lux" hammers from the OBI store are also from Osca. The hammer in the 2nd pic (in the middle) which is also from Osca is also available from Promat (in blue), Elora (in yellow) and Würth.

Servus,

I haven't paid much attention to the various hammers available. As a consequence, I can't comment on these products.

I really really like the blue Felo screwdriver !!!

I'm sorry to disappoint you: I don't have a second Felo screwdriver with a blue handle.

What brand is the screwdriver on the left of the blue Felo ??

Stubai.

@themotts:
thanks for the post ! Didn`t know that they still make the cordless hammer drills here. I thought only the corded ones.

The pliers were also offered by "Gedore" (#136P). On a website from india they still show them. I believe the original manufacturer of the CK brand pliers was "Wezag" Couldn`t find any patent info though.

Both pics from Gedore:
parallel_grip_wrenches.jpg

oed_56333_10_0_0_normal_6407000.jpg

On the "Wezag" website you`ll find the locking pliers pictured on top. When i called Wezag they said they also make the parallel pliers for Gedore (pliers in the middle). The last pliers seem to be from Wezag too. They all look different but the adjustment screw looks always the same. They also rivet most of the pliers upper jaws while other manufacturers weld them into place.

So i believe Wezag is the OEM for your CK pliers.

more info can be found here:
klick

ps:
I never saw those in real life. So they`re automatic adjustment pliers like the "Lockjaw" pliers ???

btw: cool pliers !!!:rocker:

nice clamps ! Did you find the Gross-Stabil clamp lately or do you own it longer ? You don`t see them here anymore since Bessey took over Gross-Stabil.
Reminds me to buy some clamps for woodworking. I think i will get me a couple of the Ideal clamps with "Vario-handle" click and these with 2-component handle:

ideal2komponenten.jpg

animation-gs01.gif

some more file handles :) Not as nice as yours but unfortunately i dont have a lathe. Makes me want to buy one and make handles for files, screwdrivers, ratchets..... :)
Is your Blu-dan rasp hand-cut (larger pic ?) or "industrial-made" ?

nice ! The insulated ratchets etc. look somehow similar. Somewhere i read there are only 3 manufacturers in Europe who makes them.

Here is a set KTC of Japan offers. The ratchet and box looks like its from www.klaus-friedrich.com. If you look at the super sized pic here you can see "Germany" on the ratchet. The included "TestBoy" is also from germany.

ktcset.jpg

KTC also offers a insulated torque wrench, you also can see "Germany" if you look here. Here`s a PDF of their 2 tool-sets and the torque wrench.

Here a pic from Klaus-Friedrich

A pic from Gedore. Different "head" but handle looks similar.

this time different color. From www.lwt.de

They always seem to have a handle/scale like this one:

311gJWf5wnL._SS400_.jpg

so i believe the original manufacturer of the insulated torque wrenches is "ISI".
They have 8 different models of insulated torque wrenches.

Here is a different style from "Lemp"

Wizard1,

Welcome to this discussion forum! I am not familiar with the availability or ease of acquiring industrial or mechanics quality tools in China. Can you please enlighten me?

How did you acquire the above German and American screwdrivers?

Did you use eBay, purchase through internet stores located in nearby countries (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, New Zealand, Australia), or locally?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

I can answer your question.IN China I can order some German made tools from agency,but we must wait above 30 days.Because the agency don't stock many products in their storehouse.

Sometimes I buy some us made tools(SNAP-ON,PROTO) from American ebay.

Wish everything goes well.

Monte,

I like all the Christmas presents you purchased for yourself! Once you put the PB Swiss "Twister" ratcheting screwdriver through some use, can you please post back your likes and dislikes of this hand tool?

Thanks,

Dave
