yes, way beefier than the Engineer PZ-57: 7 inches Vs.4 or 5 inches and able to get way bigger screws(pun or no pun intended :D)!

still haven't found bigger than the Merry one yet. :D

i haven't been impressed by the PZ-57 though, the 3 peaks offering looks more promising and will be what i'll order next: DS-115TZ and DS-150Z for smaller screws. there's also a DS-175TZ that is 10mm shorter than the Merry and doesn't look to be sturdier(but as more modernish handles and finish):

(click the image to see it along with price in one of Rakuten' shops)

you can get the Merry pliers from Levelchrome in the US with free shipping(over USD99.00). ;)
Nice info.
That 3 peaks stuff is nice too.

noooooooooo! how come that beautiful Hazet Blue is not waaaaaaaay more expensive than the lowly Vigor red, eh? :shocking:

adorators of The Blue might feel betrayed now: double the price ASAP!

seriously, nice of Hazet to offer us, mere mortals, some of that Divine Blue while not ripping-out all our euros from our bank accounts, for once...

back to Osaka where my last parcel originated:

a Top RH-4N half-inch 24 toothed ratchet(same as the one that disappeared in transit from Texas) along with a Ko-ken 13mm square oil drain plug socket:
Wow! The better Japanese **** . I love it.

Vessel screwdrivers that is! lotsa-lotsa!

2013-06-04-1029.jpg

went a little bit overboard between our Levelchrome order and this Rakuten one but pricewise it's still cheaper with DHL shipping and import duties/taxes than buying half of it here(if available here, of course!)...

Does Russia have any tools stamped Russian Federation ?

I think that would be cool to have.

Stamp of "Russia" on such a rare instrument. Because it is a model of the Soviet era. Stamps were not changed. Erased only the inscription "USSR"

Stamp of the plant is.
Their website. http://niz.ru/katalog/vmchk.html

English is not there. Just press the links

looks like at least the black rubberish part of the screwie is "Made in Japan" since it's marked as such there:

I'm not an expert metallurgist but my understanding is blueing of steel is the 1st step/sign of breakdown of steel and where chaffing will begin to appear. I'm feeling like the hammer should have been polished out to remove the blue caused by improper cooling after tempering or finish grinding without coolant.

Depends on how you cool it. Oil or water. Depends on the steal and the function of the tool. Some machinist tools are covered with a special bluing. Wood chisels will turn blue when cooled. or where the handle is bent for off set pattern makers chisels and gouges. Most companies polish out the blue. You find tools both ways and some got to market that were not finished. Buck offset chisels and gouges have hit the market un-polished when the company went under and sold. The old stock is very blue/black in the bend of the handles. I know because I had 20 sets of them. They are very expensive chisels and long. A full set of buck offset gouges can cost a thousand dollars.

Looked through my dad's tools earlier (ignore the Thorsen). Not sure how old these really are, but they have to be atleast 15 years old. I believe the ratcheting wrench is Russian, don't know anything about it.

This is not Russia. It is the Soviet Union. I have already shown this set. I have.

some more tools came through the post today :D

50mm 1/4 drive stahwille extension, (need a 25mm and 75mm one, to replace my bluepoint ones, but seems stahwille don't make those lengths :( )

and two hazet 600 spanners, to add to the set I'm assembling, a 17mm and 19mm

the 19 has the older "small a" logo (might move it on if/when I get another 19mm with the later logo on it)

love these spanners, not quite as pretty as the 600N but nice all the same

bad thing is i have now 'discovered' ebay.de ..... (where these came from)

I know the spec isn't the same, and they're not visually identical, but the simlarity is fairly striking (at least to my eye).

Anyhow the Lidl version is on for £30:

Both are made in china. That is all i know about the lild drill. But the right angle attachment for the metabo is quite handy at times.

Yes I have the Metabo myself and I'm really pleased with it. Certainly worth what I paid.

I wonder how much of a bargain the Lidl drill is though -might be worth having for the Mrs to use in the house or for when I'm too lazy to go get mine out of the garage :)

They have bit sets on for £8 and they're identical looking to the Metabo-branded set I have.

That's a nice price.

don't know for sure, it's available from Keiba, KTC and a lot of others in various colors and sizes:

4fe3ed9629561.jpg

Hrmm. I'm confused. USA is clearly stamped on this one.:tard:

Ko-ken 4mm nutdriver to be used with Wiha 4mm bits(after adding a small magnet inside):

Sounds like a nice little project.
